Nah, that view is too simplistic. I want to hear negative stories, but not because I want to revel in it. I want to see bad things brought to light so they can be fixed and exposed. The problem seems to be in the follow-up, the fixing seems to fail and I see the same bad stories again and again, that's when I start to get depressed.
Compare it with the opposite. For years the Catholic church kept telling people that bad priests were a fiction and instead focus on the awesome stories of all the great work they were doing. This literally enabled millennia of child abuse.
