I'm looking to upgrade the forum software for a minecraft community I'm staffing. It's on PhPBB3, but the minecraftserver owner suggests an complete overhaul and migration wouldn't be out of the question. The main website is www.netherendingstory.com which covers our other servers too. However, I don't see that there is much to choose between forum software at the moment. I've used Enjin, SMF, Vbulletin, IPB, and a few others. They all seem much the same. Someone recently posted something that looked interesting here on the Elite: Dangerous forum, but I can't find it (or I was dreaming).
In any case, is there something new and decently different that would allow a community of gamers to converse in the style to which we are accostomed, but generally with a little more fluidity, better security, more active patching, funner plugins, ease of use, greater admin/moderator capabilities etc...
