Found a Tear in Space-Time?

Wondering if there is a scientific explanation for this effect I saw tonight? (or could this be a glitch in the matrix?)

Screenshots taken from close vicinity of a White Dwarf. In the distance (behind & to the right slightly) is @4.6k ls, a Black Hole, at 7.5k ls, a Class L dwarf.

What I could see was the gravitational distortion from the White Dwarf, and as I got closer the 'rift in space-time' appeared on the right. Almost looks like a portal! :)

Any ideas?

P.S. - The Class L dwarf didn't have the mammoth rings around it shown on the system map :( .. (or not that I could see). Again, not sure if glitch or not.

Indeed does look odd .. so thought I would ask the community.

Kinda looks like the black hole, but that is >4k ls behind the white dwarf at about 0.5 ls ..

it is a black hole, you can see it on your system map screenshot.

Seen a lot of Black Holes but not one like this. It seems to be projecting the undistorted image from behind the White Dwarf around into the center of the black hole; instead of it normally consuming the light & distorting it around it. Seems to be a 'mirror' black hole for lack of a better choice of words lol! Notice as well nothing is distorted at all in the area of the black hole too. It also seems to be on top of the gravity distortion from the White Dwarf and cut where the White Dwarf distortion ends.

The Class L dwarf didn't have the mammoth rings around it shown on the system map :( .. (or not that I could see).
Rings around a star that are not being immuminated from another star are almost invisible due to the way the lighting model works. You'll know tehy're there when you hit them though!

Seems like a shader issue, and you'r perhaps seeing the enviroment map, mapped on a planet or disc.. Stuff like that.. Chalk it up to a bug or video drivers.. Doesn't look intended, at all.

What you've come across here is the cobra engine having a conniption at having to render 2 gravity lensing effects on top of each other.
