Found My first Class C carbon star!

And it's quite a big 'un

On the galaxy map, it looked like a yellow giant

so I was quite surprised when I jumped in

Found an earth-like world round the 4th planet. doesn't look like it gets a lot of visible light. 'spose it might get a fair bit of infra red.

Distance between planet and sun is about 2000Ls - 600million km

Also found a gas giant with near transparent rings- are jupiters like this? I haven't been to Sol yet

Try R Leporis, if it's in there under that name, it's by far the reddest star in the real sky that can be easily observed with binoculars or a small telescope. When in the dimmer portions of its variability range it's not too unlike that color actually, just a bit more orange.

I'm heading from orion to VY Canis Majoris at the moment, it's on that path that I stumbled across the carbon star. Totally by chance

Another interesting star I found on my way...Wezen aka Delta Canis Majoris. An enormous Class F supergiant.

But this thing is huge - way bigger than Rigel. Biggest non-red supergiant I've seen.

To try and put it into perspective I flew to the copanion class B star

I left the hud on for the reference distances - over 8000Ls away and still huge. The jump in point is about 900Ls from the star. I didnt get a pic right at the star but the colouring is interesting. the purple corona around it is reminiscent of the class O I visted a while back but the star itself is off-white up close

EDIT - I forgot I was still in the system from last night. So I took a couple more pics

Heading back to Wezen A
