Found my very first alien flora !

There I was minding my own business while out exploring in my very own distant expedition mission. Probing everything that had an orbit !

And it is then, while I was probing a moon near an ammonia gas giant with ammonia based life that it happened.

Instead of a geological signal, it was the biological signal that appeared !

Since it was the very first time that it happened to me, I rushed there pretty excited.

So much so that I forgot to check the planet's gravity ! Fortunately it didn't end in tragedy, but I got pretty scared for a second there !

I jumped in my SRV, and finally started to aproach the source of the signal.

The hilly landscape didn't allowed me to see clearly what lied in the distance. but once I got over one such hill, I stumbled with this little treasure !

I dub thee Magnus gasum melo

This melon shaped "plants" are simply humongous ! And seem to be filled with what looks like a glowing gaz !

I'm sure it must look eerie in the night ! :)

This must be pretty standard with every "plant life" that we might find out there, but I noticed there are some protuberances growing form its surface !

There are also some fungi like form that once collected gives you the most rare mats !

There are also some pear shaped ones !

I dont know you, but I am pretty happy with this find !

I just wish I could have given it a name if this is the first specimen of its kind ever found !

I believe that giant gas melons is pretty fitting for it ! :D

Don't get your face near the "protuberances". That didn't end well for almost everyone in the movie "Alien", et al.
Nice find and good shots.
Regards

Those are some mighty impressive cantaloupes!

I love finding biological POIs. It’s nice to know that they aren’t all just barren rocks.

A lucky find, haven't found any bio pois yet just geo ones, maybe I'll get lucky on this trip out.

A very nice find.Guess they're your babies now, huh? Have you tried talking to them yet?:)

Nope, but I let them hear some music.

Nothing better than some Edward Grieg concert for piano in A minor to set the mood and a bountiful harvest !

I did ! Sadly nothing happened.... :(

You can shoot the various Fungi.
They become Mats as per the Planetary mineral percentages.
Make sure you harvest the site. The Phloem Excretions will have the Rare material for the planet.

Those things are variously called Gourds or Pumpkins, but they are called anemones in the Codex.
Remember that you have to point your Comp. Scanner at them and scan to get the Codex entry.

These were first found at the Mahon Research Base in the California Nebula.
I believed for a long time that the Alliance had a weapons program there, because the Cordyceps fungi do nasty things to insects (Thargoids).

You have to remember that the whole INRA plot line involved the MYCOID virus.
"mycoid" from the word: Mycellium the hidden non-fruiting part of a fungus.
