Found surface points of interest. Now what?

Am in explorer mode and found some surface points of interest after surface scanning. Now what do I do? Do I need to scan them further?

I tried to approach one last night, but as did add I dripped into orbital cruise I got the dreaded adjudication server errors and gave up.

Once I'm back in is worth doing more with these discoveries?

Well, you can go ahead, land and see what's up, you never know what you will find..

Use your composition scanner. You can do it from your ship (bind it ton a fire group). You may be able to do it from an SRV as well.

You can scan them with the composition scanner to get a Codex entry and voucher - and if it's something no-one has seen before in that region, the Reported credit in the Codex, too.

Some of them (e.g. volcanism) are also good sources of raw materials for synthesis or later engineering.

Pro Tip: Bind the composition scanner, discovery scanner and data scanner to the same fire button in the same group. You will use what is fitting the target and the honk takes longer to finish than the other scanners.
