I'm thinking this might be useful for controlling your FSS and DSS. It has a joystick for moving around (aiming) and a wheel you can probably use for zooming in and out with a myriad of colorful buttons for other functions.

It's been done...Here's the video. It appears to work best being clamped to a desk.

I use a Logitech G13 gamepad so haven't tried it. The G13 is desktop friendly that I use mostly for ED video capture.

Well that's good knowing it works with ED. I guess experimenting with it some and you could probably use it to control the FSS and DSS nicely. I was originally thinking SRV control but there is way more buttons than needed for that.

I've done too much real farming to want to simulate it. Sold my last tractor 18 years ago.

It would be very useful for the left hand in flight - X and Y axes for lateral/vertical thrust and the rZ axis for forwards/reverse.

I'd recommend a 3DConnexion device for thrust inputs however - they're fantastic for the galaxy map too, as they're full 6DoF devices. They're pricey, but a used SpaceExplorer will probably cost the same as what you'd pay for the side panel.

I use this for a dedicated Camera Suite Controller...it’s perfect...imo...grab one if you see a bargain
