Founding the Archangel Fighter Club

TL;DR at bottom.

The AFC is a group that originated in Discovery Freelancer an mod or people who enjoyed RP. Well the group there fizzled out. It was a group of people who loved to play dangerous. We race around stars and planets so close we could get disintegrated if we moved a pixel... well polygon to close. I'm wanting to recreate this club in ED. With all of the workings and some more implemented. I hope this might draw some people who like the role play to join and come back to ED. The goal for AFC is to have fun racing and having role play as wanted. So, let me layout what the group will look like in ED.

There will essentially be 3 branches players can participate in. All three are open to anyone who officially joins. So first branch is the Lawful branch. This is the upfront of the club. This branch will have goals and rewards set up for the events created by us players. That could be hauling cargo and getting an even bigger reward than what Frontier would give or escort work. Players that participate in the branch can set up events/jobs or whatever for others to join. For example maybe you want to transport or get to a really far point or have to pass through dangerous territory. You could take the initiative and provide something for other CMDRs to do. Another thing we could do if we have enough players join, when fleet carriers come out we can hold events to fund one or more then we can use it, depending on how they will end up working, to have jump parties. They would consist of randomly jump to systems and find somewhere to have fun.

The Racing branch is what is sounds like. It is the branch for people who love to go fast and almost explode. I have a few types of races in mind that I feel would be fun. Canyon runs which as far as I can tell is the most prominent type of race in ED. Canyon runs are fun as they are but, I've been wonder how do we add the AFC flair. I want to know what you the CMDRs of Elite think about this. A canyon run that is flown in teams of two. One is the racer that has no armor or shields and are as fast as they can get without engineering. The second in the pair is the wingman. The wingman would mainly be playing interference on the other teams. The races in which this set up is used would comprise of at least 2 stages. The stages will be canyons on different planets in the same system. So when you get to the finish of the first stage you will supercruise out of the pull of the planet and head to the next stage get down on it and race to the finish. The wingmen will not be allowed to use lethal weaponry but, they can have FSD interdictors and such to pull the racer out of supercruise or slow them down in the canyons. The default rules for the wing man is if you engineer to keep up with the racer or improve FSD interdictors or what have you, you are to declare it before event start. Another type of race I'm looking into for the possibility of it working is a point to point race. You would start in one solar system and and have to get to another system many jumps out. You would plot your route before the event starts but, you will basically be racing like a rally driver. You wont have your star map available to you during the race but, you can have your route written down or have a friend instruct you on what your next jump is. This puts in a layer of skill for planning and on how you set your ship up. And again engineering would not be aloud in this type of race unless told otherwise.

The Smuggling branch will probably have the least amount of players participating in it but, it would be a great RP opportunity. We would have challenges set up for you to climb the ranks of the smuggling branch. If this gets a lot of attention more challenges and events would be created by either players wanting to RP or the top leaders to keep players interested in playing. There isn't as much to say here as smuggling in ED is in a bit of a weird spot as I have been told.

For my favorite branch, the Deep Exploration branch will be created when fleet carriers are implemented to find interesting placing to go and race far out in to the unknown. And they will be awarded for the discoveries they find that we can use. So lets say if you find a binary planet orbit where the planets are so close you could almost boost up and into the second planet without having to supercruise. The goal of this branch is to give the players who prefer exploring to also have a chance at having more contact with other players. Some discoveries go unnoticed for days, weeks, and even months sometimes.

So to sum this block of text,
TL;DR
Former racer from a group in an old game wants to recreate the group in ED with the branches being Lawful, Racing, and Smuggling. RP is a if you want to you can make events dedicated to rp.
