Four PvP-Setups for a Corvette - what would you prefer?

Insightful and informative, I wish all posts would be as helpful as this one.

Sorry but the comment was accurate. Those are terrible loadouts that are only moderately effective against large ships and nearly useless against everything else. Fixed weapons on a Corvette are suboptimal to begin with hitting small ships with them is just not competitive even for PvE much less PvP. Plasma accelerators are even worse as they are too slow to reliably hit smaller ships. Basically the only thing these setups are useful for is fighting another large ship who is spamming chaff.

No need to be sorry, but to make a statement and not offer a remedy or constructive suggestions, as you have, is of no use. I stand by my comment but I commend YOUR constructive additions.

Well I agree that the comment wasn't particularly constructive, but it did get right to the point of the issue which in its own way does contribute to the discussion.

Which is a bug.

Are these really "bugs" or just easter eggs put there by FD to add to the game. These "bugs" seem to be have around in some form or another as long as I have been playing. Even when they are "unmasked", they don't seem to be taken away in a hurry. Just an observation.

Premium ammo isn't supposed to last forever. It has, in various incarnations, and currently does for but that's because they keep breaking things.

Plenty of bugs are ancient, doesn't mean they are intended. Cargo hatch priority reset bug is three years old and there are other bugs that have been reintroduced and then removed a half dozen times.

Those loadouts would be fine for bot grinding but they wont cut it in PvP.

You are going to get yanked by FdL/FAS wings constantly and they will drive you insane with target lock breaker because you are such a big target and easy to hit.

Forget equipping plassies to be honest, they are great against NPCs but you wont hit a competently flown Lance especially on a rotational high strafe.

Fixed huge beams with G5 efficient and thermal vent are the most effective weapons I have used for landing damage against fast movers. No matter what dirty FX they have you can always hit them with good old beams.

Long range cascade rails in the small hardpoints are super handy as well.

Despite its awesome firepower and agility the Vette is a tough ship to fly in PvP. I have witnessed Morbad do exceptionally well in it but he has tons of experience flying it.

From some that have knowledge in programming, these "bugs" re-appear because code writers/companies maintain a set program that is unchanged as a touchstone, a known quantity, so whatever "bugs" are in that legacy set of instructions will come back in the newer iterations of the program, based on that unchanged code, and hopefully fixed in the new releases.

We may assume that they are unintended, but FD are the only ones that know for sure, all we can say is that they will be around, gives us something to talk about.

Just one of many, it appears they get attention only when someone complains and then none too swiftly, thanks for the insight.

Hello CMDRs,

after experimenting around for some days this is my final take (for the time being) on fitting the Vette:

For the large underbelly hardpoint I opted for the opportunity weapon with the highest DPS: A gimballed G5 double-shot fragment cannon. Only useful against larger ships, but the effect is nice.

This fragment cannon is complemented by two medium gimballed multicannons with high capacity magazine and corrosive resp. emissive effect.

The small hardpoints carry G1 long range railguns with feedback cascade and the huge ones fixed efficient beams (or gimballed multicannons, depending on my mood and whether I like to fly with 3-0-3 or 4-0-2 pips).

I have set two fire groups: With enemy's shields online beams primary and rail guns secondary, with enemy's shields offline beams and multicannons primary and fragment cannon secondary.

I'll keep this setup until I find a better one. :D
