Will power can be an incredible thing, if you harness your desire to get the reward at the end and keep sight of the gratification it will give you, it is possible to achieve great things....
Way back when my CMDR quite new and financially was just middle class as opposed to the mega mogul I am now, I had to sell my FDL and my Python to raise the cash to get a conda, I then used the conda as a missile cruiser to grind imperial rank, then got a cutter, then ran it as an iSlave transporter till I made Trade Elite. Somewhere about the time 2.1 dropped I was at Entrepreneur and struggling to keep going with the A-B trade loops I was running, so I bought a FDL, A specced it, bought it a gold paint job, flew a quick Bounty hunting session in it, and mothballed it. In the darkest moments of being really bored trading, I kept reminding myself of that FDL sitting in my home station and kept going to get loser to flying the FDL. A couple of months later, when I had trade elite, I finally allowed my self to fly the FDL again.
I hope the OP gets the same amount of satisfaction from his FOVE after meeting his non negotiable deadline as I got from my FDL after making trade elite.
