FoxVox voice control for Elite Dangerous?

I'm looking to get Elite Dangerous but I first wanted to see about voice control. It seems Voice Attack is the popular option and there's a lot of cool stuff for it, but I'm not sure I want to fork over another ten dollars just for voice control. I found this one FoxVox which is free and seems promising. They don't have a library for Elite Dangerous so I'm wondering if anybody else has used it and has a library I can download?

first I have heard of it tbh good luck with your search and welcome to the forums
I think most who use voice control use va here...…………………..
with hcs voicepacks on top yea can be quite expensive (I made my own personalized voicepack & enhanced sound effects using audacity)
I do like VA other features like controller long presses for eg
and do consider it money well spent pretty sure it was only a fiver when I bought it in what seems like an age ago now
cant imagine all my games without it now tbh I love the way it brought new life to old games my garr class submarine is fully voice controlled like a captain would
and I used sound samples from the old bw movie classic run silent run deep(silent hunter 4) which still puts modern games like destroyer on steam to utter shame imo
I mean you can navigate using the stars with that old game with realistic realtime sunrise and sets and phases of the moon

I thought that one could use VA for free, you just need the bought version to use things like HCS Voicpacks etc?

EDIT - BTW $10 is really cheap for something you can use for many years. YMMV of course.

I thought it was free as well, I do use the HCS Voice pack Orion... Kinda cool navigating the stars with Bill Shatner.

good point the free version gives you 1 profile for say one game with 20 commands enough to get you started on elite https://voiceattack.com/
but I have profiles for most of my games myself and I currently have 145 commands with a 300mb voicepack on elite alone " mine rock" for eg coz I am to lazy to hold the fire button down if laz mining :ROFLMAO: explosive charges sound courtesy of boba fett
and I like silly things like conversation with bomb 20 of darkstar fame and red dwarf crew "smoke me a kipper"
my ships landing gear for eg uses the hydraulic drop ship sound for the film aliens for a more meaty sound

Thanks everyone for the comments, I see why everyone's going for VA now...the 20 dollars or so for the VA and the HCS voice pack might not be so bad if I'm buying the game anyway. The voice packs are better than I first thought. I don't think FoxVox supports them which is a bummer. But I tried it out in the mean time because why not, it's free lol. I think it goes without saying that it's actually a really good piece of software! Again, it doesn't do the sounds but the recognition and speed is superb. I might still get the free trial of VA and maybe the full version in the future, but it looks like this'll be able to help me at least get started, maybe even more. Thanks again everyone, happy adventuring.

the trial is fully functional should play any mp3 soundfile in the other menu select play sound or say something using text to speech like "ok raising landing gear" as a reply to your spoken command of say "gear up" and (press a key L)
commands like that can be setup in seconds and I do mean seconds the command interface is almost self explanatory
( if you get creative create or grab bites soundbites of the internet using audacity etc)
I honestly think once peeps realise how easy this is they would not rely on hcs so much still if they don't attempt a command they will never know

Unfortunately the price of the HCS packs has gone up substantially since I bought-in a long time ago. There are often sales though but beware of those as I now have rather a large "crew". ;) Some are amazingly good value though and the Ship's Parrot (which actually doesn't carry out any commands) is hilariously potty-mouthed and makes hours of exploration good fun.

There used to be a Free option in the form of the Ripley Galactic KICS profile that was hosted on Alpha Orbital which is no longer available now sadly. No idea if any one else is now hosting the zip file along with the very handy Road to Riches site.

Oh! Oh! Found it on GitHub: https://github.com/mwerle/KICS just click the link on the right of the page for Upstream Release 4.1 to grab a copy.

The other thing about VA and Elite is that you can get plugins for VA such as this one: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/binded-3-0-import-your-key-binds-into-voiceattack.558439/ which will monitor the binds file and if you change a key in Elite it'll be changed in VA automagically, IF you use variable keys in the VA commands.

I know a few folk that use VA and they all say it's the best $10 they've ever spent.
Brand new to Elite Dangerous ( from Falcon BMS) and want to run it in VR, which means not seeing the keyboard and therefore using voice commands and HOTAS ( in my case CH throttle and stick). I have VA which works very well in BMS. Does anyone have a VA profile to share for ED?

is the free profile (link provided by useless uk) in the post above yours somehow not suitable?
Thank you for responding! The link may well be suitable although I was worried by the comment about lack of support (update) since 2016. I guess I should just try them. But before that I have to figure out how to get my HOTAS working in ED using VR. All those manoeuvring axis functions and not being able to use the keyboard....

set up your controls as you would a standard display you can setup about the looking around l8tr using the head mounted display
use this tool as a template and a handy ref guide to what you have currently set and for some users configs for you to try out https://edrefcard.info/
you can then taylor the basic binds layout changing for things you may find more suitable ( eg i prefer my thrusters for elevation here not there)
and I suggest you follow this guide to backing up and renaming your current control binds https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/lost-your-binds-want-hasstle-free-backed-
up-binds-look-no-further.554451/ that being done then try the voice attack profile
oh and welcome to the forums o7

The fully functioning free version provides 1 profile with 20 commands. With ED you'll need more. Here's a setup tutorial.

Want the Star Trek voices? This is too much fun!
Still I can see the tuture...."SIRI attack my target".

Well there's two things to note about the KICS profile;

1. It doesn't have support for bindED so if you change a keybind in Elite then you'd also have to update the appropriate keybind option in the VA Profile.
2. It doesn't have support for Elite Dangerous Odyssey, i.e. there's no FSS/DSS or on-foot stuff setup

But I've been thinking about addressing the above issues ... it's just a matter of finding the time to do it.

Thank you for the valuable advice Hoopla and UselessUK . I'm fairly comfortable with VA, having bought it years ago, but mainly for voice communication as opposed to physical functions, but your points are noted.
It seems to me that I have insufficient axes ( to incorporate the thrusters in addition to pitch, yaw and roll) on my CH HOTAS -coupled with the lack of a keyboard because of VR- so I'm hoping to use VA for some flight functions.

I used the throttle ministick for lateral and vertical thrusters (OK needs a biggish deadzone but worked fine) - I moved from my CHPro stuff to VKB now.
That's interesting. Must figure out how to programme the mini stick to do both vertical and lateral thrusters. Then I need something else for yaw.
