FPS drop in oculus after switching to X55 Rhino

Having an interesting problem. my old X52 hotas died last week and I purchased a new X52 Pro to replace it. that worked great but only if I disabled my USB 3.0 drivers. I decided to order a X55 Rhino since it supports USB 3.0 out of the box but have since discovered it does work well in ELITE but it now seems like im getting some occasional stutter in station and additional stutter close to planets I was not getting before. The X55 uses two usb ports while the old X52 used only one. Additional cpu overhead now? Any ideas?

Ello CMDR,
I have an X55 for ELITE as well. It's connected to a laptop with a Nvidia GT 650m gfx card and an i7 chip. It's also running a Razor Naga mouse and Deathstalker keyboard, also a ACER 23'' ips display. I notice no difference with the x55 connected or not. All I am trying to say is: if my lil laptop can use it no problem then your machine should aswell.
Godspeed CMDR! o7

One USB port is used for power and comms, the other is used for extra current. I doubt there is anything wrong with your setup, but I very much think there is something wrong with Microsoft power settings. They have been junk for a couple of years now. Hopefully Windows 10 will finally fix this, although I have my doubts.

Problem appears to be the X55 Rhino settings program. Once I shut that down things run normal. I updated the video driver and tried to reengage my SLI settings on the 980's and it was complaining about this program and unable to engage until it was shut. Just for kicks and giggles I left it turned off. problem seems to have disappeared. Weird.

As much as i love my x55 the drivers seem to be a law unto themselves! :)

I recently upgraded from a X52 Pro to a X55, and experienced no slowdown in the Rift. I made sure to uninstall ALL the X52 software before moving to the X55. That's all I can think of.

Just out of interest, have you got PhysX mapped to CPU or GPU in the Nvidia control panel?

Just updated to the latest video drivers and busily going back to restore all the settings - when I switched PhysX back to CPU from the default GPU, it asked me to kill the X55 profiler process before it could do so.

That's VERY interesting, especially considering others have said Elite doesn't use PhysX. Maybe something else (Saitek drivers) are messing with it and causing fps loss. That would be really weird but it would explain why switching PhysX from GPU to CPU improves framerates for some people.
