Engineers frag cannon: doubleshot or overcharge

My python is all overcharge 5 frag atm with 3 incindiery, 1 drag, and 1 corrosive. They shred pretty well, but I'm hearing double shot may be better overall. Need opinions

Sure, it may be just that simple, but it never hurts to get the whole picture before re-rolling five new grade 5 weapons.
 
I would save the old shotguns and try the DS. OC is better in that you get more mileage out of your ammo because each shot does more damage. DS will eat through ammo fast. It just depends on your tastes.
 
I'm in the same boat. Got 3 x OC Large Frag Cannons on the Python but I'm looking to switch to double shot for even better wrecking potential.

The numbers would suggest double shot gets the job done quicker.
 
Double shot increases DPS and burst damage, but does so by increasing your rate of fire - which means that you'll run out of ammo very rapidly. Overcharge is significantly less DPS, but substantially increases your total damage carried - an overcharged frag boat will kill slower than a double shot one but needs to rearm far less often.
 
If your just going PvE, you might be better off with your set up......But, Oh My.. the raw power of double shot makes me quiver!!! I only use double shots now....
I drop into a moon and pick up the materials for Basic ammo rebuys for reups during combat. It's cheap material and easy to find. That said, I only use 2 Frags (not 5 like you are) and 2 plasma's in my FAS, but :eek: does it pack a punch!!
 
I put them on my python for pve (OC) and my clipper for pvp (DS) Only issue has been the special effects. I went screening shell on the larges, corrosive and drag on the mediums. Throws the fire cycle off a bit this way tho, so I may roll up DS screening shell for the mediums so they are synched up. Dunno tho cuz i like drag and corrosive.
Not worried about the ammo. Basic reload synthesis saves you there and isn't that hard to collect the mats. Good stuff guys

Sure, you run out of ammo in like 10 minutes PvE. But for those 10 minutes are you a force of nature.


This by a country Mile, add to that a 30% premium synthesis ammo reload hit, and not only are you a force of Nature, but you will have God Like Killing Powers!
