Frame rate in Horizons Resource Extraction Sites

This is a known problem that has been around for a long time. I'm posting this because I have some new information. I used to play on a computer with an i7 and GTX970, then 1080, now I've got an i9 with 3090 graphics. AFAICS there's no difference in the time it takes the stuttering to appear. It first can be detected after about 2 hours. After 4 hours, there's intermittent stuttering, and after 6 hours, the game becomes unplayable when the graphics can't keep up with what's going on. I also have a laptop with a 1060ti in it. I turned the graphics down to low, 30 fps and 720p. It made no difference, so I don't believe that the cause of the problem is anything to do with the graphics. Instead, it must be something to to with data handling. Maybe it's related to how many kill transactions get recorded or something like that.

The solution is to jump out of the RES and back in again, which resets something, but that's really annoying when you have just the right spawn, and when you reset, you get hardly any pirates or only big or small ships.

I'm also wondering whether some of the problems in EDO have a similar cause.

Yep. I've had gradual performance loss in RES since forever. Funnily enough on Odyssey it stabilises at around 30 and doesn't actually stutter so it's actually improved in that aspect.
