Newcomer / Intro FRAME SHIFT DRIVE CANCELLED: JUMP EXCEEDS DRIVE FUEL LIMIT OF 0.60 TONS

I am doing a mission where you have to deliver something to a place 8 LYrs away.

Everytime I do the frame shift drive i get an error message: "FRAME SHIFT DRIVE CANCELLED: JUMP EXCEEDS DRIVE FUEL LIMIT OF 0.60 TONS"

I'm new to this game I'm wondering how am I going to get pass this problem..

Plot a route in your galaxy map that breaks it up into two jumps you can make. 8 ly is too long a jump for a stock Sidewinder, even with no cargo.

If there are no other stars between you and your destination, you can't do anything unless you increase your jump range, either by reducing your ship's mass or upgrading your FSD. You should make it a habit to always check the galaxy map before accepting missions to make sure your ship can make the trip.

Related - when plotting a route in the galaxy map always look it over first. If any segment of your route has a dashed line, you don't have enough fuel to make it. You'll have to refuel at some point on the solid portion of the route, either by stopping at a station to refuel or scooping fuel from a scoopable star.

OPEN GALAXY MAP...."TAB" TO search,,,,jump data. chose economical option....this will break down trip to smaller jumps that your ship will cope with

...maybe

below that it will tell you your jump range....some places will just be out of reach until you can afford upgrades

everything is hard to start with , persevere , it gets better

lots to learn however before you get into the grove

Yah I got it! I selected the galaxy map to plot my route... From now on, I'll be using this feature everytime I go for a mission.

Thanks for the tip brothers! [smile]

Load cargo and top up fuel before plotting route or use the slider on the route plotting page to increase cargo mass.
The route plotter will pick routes based on the mass of ship cargo and fuel at that time, if you add cargo and fuel after plotting then it is quite possible that the route will no longer work.

Hi
I am new too. I recommend upgrading your frame shift drive. Even a small increase made many of my jump path headaches go away.

Good luck!
