Frameshift Drive not working?

Just tried to play, in both Solo, then Online, I have tried different targets, my wheels are up, I have a full tank of gas, the distance is half my capability, I am not mass locked.
I engage frameshift drive with the target straight ahead and the blue dot in the middle of the flashing blue left hand scanner, when it charges it tells me to throttle up, which I do, its starts to make the noise of going into hyperdrive but doesn't, it then starts to tell me to align with the target, I find then that the red triangle is aligned with the target, but the blue dot is then slightly low, whatever I try however, it now never aligns, so I turn off, try again, same thing every time, wont react fully to throttle up then starts telling me I am out of line.

I have made many hyper-jumps and never had this problem before.

Any Ideas?
I have less than an hour now to complete a mission!

Uhh yeah, you're too busy making friends, you need to engage the frameshift drive instead. :)

Seriously though, where are you? If you quite close to a planet or star you need to be point in a particular direction to escape the gravity well, the ship will display an "escape vector" if this is the case.

1. Check the point your travelling to is in system or another system

2. Check your key settings as friendship drive and hyperdrive are different modes. You can use 1 button for both though.

3. Check you are going to the right place. You might align with a planet and mean a new system.

Well, I found out why I called it Friendship drive, there is this Woman who tells me, "Friendship drive charging" when I press the button", so I'm blaming her.

Anyway, had another look, yes indeed, I have a huge planet above, and a sun below, and my target is between them.
So where does my ship display an "escape vector", I couldn't see anything.
I thought I would sail between these bodies but can see that will take me weeks.
One thing I did discover, if you hold flight assist off when you use the booster, the speed doesn't bleed off anywhere near as quickly as it does with flight assist on.

Which does make me wonder what substance is in the ED Universe to create drag anyway?

Just had another look, it doesn't tell me to align with an "Escape Vector", it tells me two things, one minute it says align with target destination, the next align with ships trajectory, both in the space of a couple of degrees, the message alternates between the three along with the throttle to engage one.

Just as a check target a different system see if that works

I tried that, same result, maybe I will do a clean wipe as I don't like getting a bad reputation for a reason for which I am not to blame, (I think).

This is a fairly new game anyway as since I bought a CH throttle to go with my CH fighterstick, I now have a three inch dead zone on the left to right axis so I got into a bit of bother flying out of a station!

Stuck between a rock and a hot place eh? :)

I was gonna write an explanation of how to find the escape vector but it turned out to be quite complicated so try this instead.

- If you have another star targetted you're trying to hyperspace
- if you have either a body in your current system targetted or no current target you're trying to supercruise.

Whichver one you're trying now, try the opposite one instead.

Good idea, so I exited, and restarted without a selected target, engaged what the voice tells me is Friendship Drive, now I get the throttle message, when i Throttle up, instead of getting the two other messages, I no longer get the align with target destination, only the align with ships trajectory, what on earth is that!?, its not like I have flight assist off, so I am certainly not flying sideways!

Yeah I've come across that one twice now and honestly I have no idea what it means. I just left it at ful throttle and kept changing direction randomly till it jumped, keeping an eye on the heat. Whatever that particular mechanic is trying to do needs some more development.

FYI if you want to deselct all targets you don't need to exit/restart. Just go to the navigation tab on the left screen, click on your current target, and select "unlock target".

Turn around and jump to another system then go on to your destination. If not can we have a screenshot please?

.
Ah, so its not just me, I have posted this link in the bug tread now.
Thats something else that was odd, the heat never went above 92% no matter how long I left it.

I tried another destination, same problem.
How do you take and save a screenshot anyway?

F10. Screenshot will be in your pics folder, in the frontier developments subfolder. Alt-F10 does a really hi res 4k screenshot.
So I went back to take a screen shot, and what do you know, everything is working ok, so must be a system bug, I even got paid for my mission, though they said they where about to send a search party out for me.
I hit atl F10, does the game give you any indication it has taken a picture or do I just find it in said file?

Cheers all.

I've been wondering about this "align the ship" thing as well. It has only happened to me when I have been on the run after an interdiction - I suppose because I am ducking and diving during that process. I always thought that you could just go into SC without having to face any target - just hit H and go. It confused the hell out of me because I am thinking - but, but, I have no target set, how can I align to anything? All the while being shot at! Anyway, jiggle the stick in a random fashion and it finally locks and off we go! It all seems a bit pointless to me.

I had this once, but it was my mistake - I have thrusters bound to rotaries on my HOTAS and knocked one off-center, so my nose was not pointing in the direction of movement as I was continuously moving upwards. Took me a while to figure it out.
