Franchise or Sandbox?

Just out of curiosity how many prefer franchise over sandbox mode? I loved playing beta even tho I prefer the no limitations of sandbox mode. I gotta admit since the game came out I have yet to play franchise although I’m glad different game modes exist. I’m also very happy to not have to unlock animals like in jwe although the missions were pretty simple it’s great to have a sandbox mode with everything available.

I don't spend much time in franchise these days. I'm just hanging out in sandbox with a bunch of options turned on so I don't need to worry about much.

Never touched Franchise. Honestly relying on a broader 'community' to get animals and such is just stupid. Seeing how many complaints there are about price inflation in the market tells me I made the right choice, too.

Sandbox is basically the same as Franchise at this point, only without the need to play online and unlock things. You can even turn off the unlimited cash and conservation credits now as well if you want more of a challenge. Personally, I'm all about creative building and trying new ways to make my zoos functional and realistic without the pressure of money.

I agree I love the building aspect of the game. I like the community has so many people that love the challenge franchise mode presents I wondered after the beta if everyone would jump to sandbox but it’s great to see a lot of people enjoy it

I'm still really enjoying Challenge mode. Never bothered with Franchise mode after Beta, it was bound to become unplayable sooner or later.

Sandbox mode for sure, franchise mode was so glitchy, lagging trade centre and disconnected servers all the time. Then I jumped to challenge mode, only to go bankrupt many hours later. I play sandbox mode just the same as challenge mode only I have a bail out option when I suddenly go bankrupt, then at least all my time I spend creating the zoo wasn't for nothing. Sandbox is less frustrating :)

I’ve been playing in Challenge mode. It’s a shame to miss out on community challenges but it’s much more relaxed, and since you can buy many habitat animals for cash progression isn’t so difficult.

I am playing a franchises only and loving it! As of today, in my zoo, I have over 3 mil w/profits going up , I have just built a train to take visitors to each end of the zoo. I have quite a few exhibits and habitats, no major issues at all like those reported. The only thing I have experienced is with the market, its very slow to respond and animals I am looking for are not always available. Otherwise I dont plan on going to sandbox, where there is no challenge, boredom quickly sets in for me. Challenge mode will be an option down the road as well. Looking forward to future updates!!!!!

I prefer Challenge mode. Had a look at Franchise mode but generally speaking, any time you open up a game's economy (animals in this case) to the general player base, things go south. It's really hard to make a resilient economy that survives players' natural competition.

With the current bugs that can quickly bankrupt zoos, I'm now playing in Sandbox to avoid losing my zoos to glitches, but hope to return to Challenge mode once things become more stable.

I started playing in franchise for the first weeks. Then I took some time off and when I returned, I started in sandbox. Due to the issues with franchise, I haven't dared open my franchise zoo yet, for fear of losing it to bankruptcy. It was going very well when I left it last I played (1.5 million cash, 35k conservation credits) but I don't want to risk it.

Sandbox is a very satisfying game mode for me, especially now it has all sorts of options to really customize the sandbox experience! The only thing that's missing is the option to disable protesters.

Sandbox only here but I play without faking guest happiness and challenge myself to create a profitable zoo. There are less bugs in sandbox, and I'm more about creativity than micro-management. Keeping happy guests and animals as well as making the zoo profitable is enough challenge for me :)

At the moment I only play sandbox with unlimited everything to improve my building skills, creativity and planning. I have guest happiness and animal happiness on, though. I plan to play challenge and sandbox with cc and money when the time comes and I can build without correcting everything 1000 times. No franchise though. I hate the way the market is and in all honesty, there are people I do not want to corporate with for several reasons.

Franchise has become less interesting after losing 2 zoos.. (corrupted saves)

Also re-researching everything for every zoo, doesn't help.
I was expecting a bit more help on that one. 1 zoo with all research, so you can start a new zoo with 1 theme.
A bit disappointed about this feature in franchise. I really don't like starting every zoo with the same basic structures..

Maybe try to get a nice sandbox zoo running in the next couple of weeks.. But already playing other games more.

I have only used the Franchise mode as well as doing the Scenarios which I enjoyed. I prefer the game/management aspects over the creativity because I struggle to come up with ideas. I am getting a lot better with the interface and building tools since PC and I have built things I really like, I've not had any issues with franchise since the launch. The market for animals is quite slow to navigate but I never really had any issues getting animals I want apart from not having enough credits sometimes straight away. I either get some more by running the game, as I pause a lot, and releasing to the wild or if there is none available usually within 10 minutes something comes online and I have plenty to do elsewhere in the zoo.

Going broke has never been an issue in Franchise, I have to be a little careful with money for the first hour or two but then I don't ever need to check it. It's great to have so many different ways to play this as everyone wants a different experience and no way is the right way. It's whatever you like doing and find enjoyable, don't let anyone say you are not playing it right whatever you choose to do.

I prefer sandbox. I tried franchise mode, but there were too many game-breaking bugs. I'm glad they're working on fixing them. The only issue I had with sandbox was the issue where animals start starving all the time despite tons of keepers and several keeper huts and staff rooms. It got ridiculous.

I have only played Franchise so far as I really prefer having a bit of challenge in the management of parks and credits, but the server lag is just obscene to the point I cannot bring myself to play it anymore. I'll probably just move over to either challenge mode or sandbox now.

I started with Franchise due to the beta, but once the game launched I only stuck with it for a few weeks. I just don't want to deal with the market, its laggy, every time there's a community challenge the price of the animal skyrockets and I don't want to have to have a 'breeding facility' just to earn enough credits to get a new animal.

I swapped to challenge mode for a while, which is a nice balance, and I enjoyed building up from scratch. Lately though I've hopped over to sandbox so I can just build to my hearts content. Will be going back to challenge mode again when my building itch is scratched and i want a little bit of a challenge again.

I think the only thing I miss about franchise is the over abundance of albinos. Haven't had a single one in sandbox or challenge yet. but it will be oh so special when I do find one.

I prefer the franchise mode. It feels more "legit" to me. With that being said, I really wish the concept could be expanded upon.

  • Visiting other people's zoo's
  • an adjustable franchise fee that goes into a central pool that you can share to your other zoo's.
