Frank Herbert and Isaac Asimov Tributes

OK, here´s my humble suggestion; In tribute to the great sci-fi writers Frank Herbert and Isaac Asimov, could we have if there already isn´t, for example a desert planet called Arrakis in the Canopus system with a station named Herbert´s Landing or something similar. The planet Arrakis would be the only place in the galaxy to obtain a luxury good/medicine called Spice Melange ("the spice extends life, the spice extends conciousness") and that trade good would be insanely valuable as an exotic luxury/medicine. If the Canopus star system happens to be in Empire territory, all the better as it would be a fief for one of the major Imperial families/houses.
Also the colony on Arrakis would have a high demand for H.E. (Hazardous Environment) Suits (water recycling stillsuits to be exact) as it is a desert planet with hazardous Megafauna (Sandworms).

A similar tribute could also be made for Asimov with references to the Foundation series.


There the suggestion is now in the open for discussion and improvement, hopefully I will be able to visit Arrakis someday with my Cobra mk 3. :-D

Nice idea. And don't forget Iain M Banks who died last year - I think there should be a Capitol Ship named in the style of the GCUs/GSVs in the Culture world. Some of those made me smile.. .

One of my favourite sci-fi series of all time. Definitely would love to see some of that in-game somewhere.

There are already a bunch of space ports with "Asimov" or "Herbert" in the name, so there's a lot of tribute to both (haven't checked "Banks" and can't right now).

Using a planet name from one of their works might be problematic due to copyright laws.

I'm pretty sure that there is a Banks Platform/Station out there, and there is definitely a Bradbury Station.

It should be around Mars but I dont know where it is actually located. The Martian Chronicles TV miniseries still makes my spine tingle a bit when I think about it. probably the only thing I remember Rock Hudson from actually.

As I recall, it's out on the rim of the bubble (near Boole Ring, I think). My explorer Cobra once spawned close by, so of course I paid it a visit. There was another player, a veteran, out there too - our islands drifted slowly past each other, unseen. As for Mars - anyone know if Bradbury Landing will be in-game?
