free camera key crashes game. who else got this?

I've heard not everyone is affected, but also I'm supposedly not the only one: When I activate the camera suite and press the key for free camera, my game freezes and I have to kill the task.

Tried it with the Type-8 and the Mandalay, but I assume it doesn't have anything to do with the ship. I also assume this might break colonization for me though, as you need a free camera to position surface settlements.

If you are affected, please tell us about your system. Here's mine: Ryzen 5800X, Windows 10, NVIDIA RTX 4070-Ti Super, latest driver. Latest EDHM_UI.

I'm thinking it's possible it's related to that, as it it's a new asset, whereas the Mandalay is not. At some point this weekend I'll be making a Claim so I'll try and remember to try this out from the T-8.

ATM I'm stuck in my Mandalay. It doesn't matter what's visible from the camera. Once I press the "free camera" key, the game freezes.

Check if it is bound for something else.
For example, elite has F10 hard coded for high resolution screenshots. And allows to map anything to F10 too. I have it on mouse, so I set weapons switch to F10. For 3 months I couldn't understand what the lag is when I fight pirates, until my SSD went out of space with 200 Gb of screenshots :D

You may have binding outside Elite for some program too which breaks the game.

The problem appeared with the update.

Have no idea. For example they key is bound for OBS could turn some streaming and crash all. I saw on stream key-binding OBS issues once.
F10 is reserved to make screenshot, AND can be bound to mode switch - doing those 2 at once exact moment could crash.

Sorry, but you're repeating yourself.

This is a bug, some[TM] people have it, some don't. I have not changed any keybinds, I am not running OBS, and all these theoretical troubles would not make a whole game engine freeze up.

El mismo problema, si juego desde Boosteroid no pasa, con lo que puede ser algo en el fichero bindings. Sigo investigando.

Ok, this may be a long shot but people in the Buurpit were also suffering from what you describe.
Possibly your key bindings are corrupt.

Delete them or use a different one. However you solve it. Do not use your current bindings.


Let us know if it works.

Yes, is absolutely the keybinds that got corrupted in the update.

You need to go into your bindings directory and delete all the files and then just restart the game. You'll obviously have to do all your key bindings again but it completely solves the problem

Two of us were affected and both of us sorted it by doing this!

I have also experienced this bug, not yet attempted the fix.
