Free Fleet Carrier cost for console.

The game is dead on console and we all know why. Players fee abandoned, and have left because we have done everything there is to do and have gone to other games waiting for EDO to come to console.....if it EVER comes...

Meanwhile, the upkeep cost for fleetcarriers is ticking away... As an apology the devs cold do something like, 'we are sorry for abandoning console layers while we our game, FC will have free cost until EDO comes to console.'

It is the LEAST they could do. This way at least we done lose out on credits and carriers while we wait.

No. Why?
Seriously, if you find the game dead, stop playing it. Decommission your FC and that's it.

In terms of basic Elite gameplay, nothing changed. If you enjoyed Horizons before EDO launch, then nothing stops you to enjoy Horizons now.
If you dont enjoy Horizons anymore, just take a break until EDO launches on consoles and then decide if EDO is what you want from Elite.

However EDO is not changing the base game - it just ads a new layer in the form of on-foot gameplay - so if you hate the base game now, you will still hate it in EDO.

Edit: and yes, strictly from an EDO perspective, carriers are absolutely useless. EDO only content is best played using Apex or a small ship.

Odyssey has significant issues on PC. It is not sensible to just port those same issues onto console as you may have something that doesn't work at all. They also can't tell us when things will be fixed because, well look at the number of posts about something being wrong and the current progress in dealing with it all. There's nothing they can say right now other than it's not ready yet.

Although what I'm hearing is that Odyssey isn't going to save the game if you're already bored of the flying a spaceship part. It apparently doesn't stand up on it's own as a game in itself and nor should it if it's an add on.

What I've seen of mission rewards in Odyssey also suggest you're going to need significant time doing the spaceship part to maintain carrier upkeep unless you're doing CZs on the ground the whole time. If you're not playing now, you probably won't be playing 2 -3 months after Odyssey releases.

Anyone else getting fed up with the "I can't have want I want so il throw a tantrum" posts?
You use a product provided by someone else, on their time table.
If you really can't wait for the latest product to be come available then it's only your problem.
Do you mail Apple to demand the iPhone 2000 by Xmas?
Really enough is enough.

Except if you're waiting for one of the many game breaking bugs to be fixed, or new features to be added, or new grind gameplay loops...

Honestly, we get the point - Odyssey is separate. But I wish people would stop telling others that it comes at no cost to the base game. 🤷‍♀️

It actually does. If you dont disembark or if you dont land on atmospheric planets, it is the same old game.
And each new EDO Update either breaks something completely new or brings back bugs resolved in the previous Updates

At the same time, my XBox runs Horizons decently well and stable.
Sure there are bugs that i'd wish to see resolved, like megaship looting - but guess what, this bug is present once more on EDO after it got fixed in Update6 and resurrected in Update 7

My point was that OP said the game is dead on consoles.
Why? because it doesn't have EDO?
Well, it's not. I still play my XB. And i still take part in Community Goals. And i still love to fly my ships in Horizons on XB.

No, because it's not being actively developed - ergo - 'dead'.

All the development effort is focussed on 'fixing' Odyssey, which is a separate game. It just happens to require Elite: Dangerous in order to run.

Well... if you mean by Dead the fact that they have a fully ongoing story that brings bits and pieces of content here and there (yes, the active story arc that's in development is Horizons only), then yes it's dead

But OP just want EDO on console and they want it now.
So no, Elite is not dead on Consoles. OP just got bored/burned with horizons and it's just looking for something new. Something that may come next year.
Until then, they may as well decommission the carrier and play something else in the mean time.

Or you could just have 6Y 3M 16d 7h 22m 41s worth of upkeep in your carrier. Pretty sure they'll have a console version by then. Two years of that was the free billion and a half credits just for decommissioning my old carrier and rebuying a new one at the discounted price from the CG. Upkeep is never an issue for any carrier owner...unless they purposefully make it an issue.

"I've found that changing the name of an unused FC to some snarky retort - one usually expressive of my personal frustrations with the game, or to market it's competitors, can be somewhat satisfying. Especially when a parking spot in a popular destination opens..." (posting for a friend) :)

Maybe they should just send it out to consoles as it is and when console players (probably the same ones) complain endlessly about preformance issue just send them a standard "we told you so" message.

I guess OP mean "dead" as many players already leaved the game, and many of them thinking about leave it. And I guess the reason is obvious. In my opinion is because they see the loop that new things bring new, or revived bugs into the game, and this is like never ending story, a.k.a windmill fight. Time goes by, honor runs out. They should have know that Odyssey is not even in the curve by its readiness for release, and the fair step would've been delay, but we all know the past. It is released, it was a disaster, and it should have fix it once and for all instead of adding new content (and new bugs with them to it). I know delay would have made people going out the streets with straightened scythes, but in my opinion it would have caused less damage on their renown. But the investors... At least they're less disappointed. Go ahead, there is nothing to see

I bet my ass, that everyone on pc who is critic the consoles cmdr, would be louder then everything, don’t forget it, some of your critics which was well deserved lead us in this direction.

As much as I know that won't, and shouldn't, be done if FDev wants Elite to be a successful game? Part of me very much wants FDev to just straight port the launch version of Odyssey onto current-gen consoles, leave it as-is for about two weeks, and then slowly release each of the updates in sequence until it catches up to the PC version.

Then maybe they'd get that PC players aren't just being mean to them when we say the PC version of Odyssey was not ready for prime time and we've been playing what is essentially a pay-in beta test.

But I also know (and hope) they won't do that because FDev has taken enough hate over this game in the past six months. I hope they finish righting this ship and that the console port is reasonably smooth.

Already have done that on PC. Results: Their rating on steam is 38%. Half of the year past but still work in progress and yet have things to do.
Releasing "as is" now definitely will bring new long waited features but they barely will be usable at 1 frame per 2 seconds.

Montu old buddy, I can't remember the last time I saw you in game. I don't know if I can trust your intel lmao

PvP is poppin' right now on Xbox, and there's a lotta AX going on, too. After the 4x payout bonus, goids are literal money printers. You gotta get in on that.

Don't be a stranger.
