Free Nameplates and Decals

Galnet News - 30-09-3308 - Militaries Prepare for Further Thargoid Strikes

“In the Aiabiko system, leading ICE personality Joy Senne has released a ‘beacon drop’ package in an effort to promote the idea of peace to independent pilots. Ships scanning the beacon will receive a xeno-affirmative ship nameplate set and decal - paid for by Senne - along with clips of a recent discussion with Sovereign Times anchor Heimar Borichev about the so-called ‘Thargoid Advocacy Project’.”

I went there, got the logs alright, but no nameplates or decals.

Unless of course they are the Xeno Ally set of nameplates and decals, which I already got from a CG way back, IIRC.

I would assume those are the ones... Wish we got a less annoying-sounding advocate for peace, though -- this one's halfway valley girl. :9

If we are to try to "shake hands" with Thargoids, we may want to invest in some really thick gloves (...and wearable diving bell...) first, if the man-size bits'o'pincer that litter the experimentation pit over at the Stack Inra base is anything to go by... :p

is it limited quantities or time or anything?

just asking if anyone knows because it worked for 1 account but nothing in another account.

Galnet doesn't say, but I wouldn't wait too long if I were you.

That's odd. Both accounts in same version? I mean, 3.8/4.0?

I scanned it in EDO just to be sure, since it could be considered "new content" not available in 3.8.

3 accounts

worked fine in 2
total fail on the 3rd
no message, nothing
it scans the beacon and that's it.
doesn't matter which version, neither Horizons nor Odyssey gets me the messages.

all 3 accounts, same PC, same folders..etc...
can't see any reason it fails for 1 account.
even bought and built another ship to see if something was wrong with that ship. nada!
rebooted, same nothingness.

the messages appeared instantly in both of the other accounts.
been in EDO and EDH twice, scanned 4 times with 1 ship
then once in EDO and once in EDH with a new ship, still nothing.
it broke or only lasted 1 day.

interesting, got it today
it scanned from 9km away too
and to make life more fun, it hid the messages in with other beacon messages from about a week ago. so waaaay down in the list of stuff.

Ok, this has caught me out many times since Odyssey - newly scanned logs sorting in under an existing older: "discovered logs" label, without popping it to the top... Can't recall whether it always was like this, or it is new behaviour..? Maybe there is a case to be made for giving these a tab of their own, on the comms panel...

There is also the navigation list, which has become something of a pain to read -- maybe it is only that the number of signals on and around a body has grown so much that they can take up several pages, but did they really use to sort in such a way that surface signals and satellites of all types and sizes, including moons, appear mixed in the list..? I feel I could use at least one extra space to the hierarchy indentation, now...

Mostly, apart from stars, the nav panel items are sorted by distance I think.

Yes - question is whether it would help to group by class, too... I find it a tad disrupting when your intermediate position between a planet and a moon makes the moon appear in the middle of the planet's list of settlements... :p (EDIT: ...and all of it interspersed with nearby USS...)
