Free ship from one of five new ships?

I remember in a news letter (News Letter #49) just before launch stating that beta backers would get one free ship from the five new ship that were being added. SO my question is when are we going to get this free ship?

the key word here may be "access"...that may imply that you dont actually get a free ship, but access to it without having to get a promotion or fulfill some requirements...we will just have to wait and see

What about that 25% insurance discount? I have the permits, but my insurance is 96%....?

This. I bet the 'free' ship everyone is drooling over is going to be behind a Permit wall, or a Faction only ship. But, we beta people will have 'free' access to go in and buy it. For probably 225 Million....

However in the same thread as the announcement Michael Brooke's stated " free as in you don't have to pay for it"

Yep, you got it. By default for non backers its a 5% self deduction So insurance covers 95% yours covers 96.25% to be exact wich is 1.25% more than those of none backers.
these 1.25% is your 25% discount. Not much for a sidewinder but if sitting in a 3.5Million T6 it becomes counting. A FDL will even count more.

Standard insurance is 95%, so that is 5% to pay. If you then consider that remaining 5% to be 100, divide it by 4 (to give you 25%), you have 1.25%. Beta insurance is 96.25%, so that is correct.

stated differently, you pay 4%

the regular rate is 5%

25% off 5 is 1.25

so your rate is 3.75%, which rounds to 4% and insurance coverage the remaining 96%
