Free sidewinder question

Correct, original starter system. The choice is pay insurance claim, or not and be given a free sidewinder by the pilot's federation. The obvious note is that not paying insurance claim equates to total ship loss and thus all value contained within it's hull and modules.

Of course if you want to get back to the bubble quickly from jaques just buy yourself a cheap sidey, get destroyed and select free sidewinder and pop, 22k ly in a flash.

Indeed. How DARE they start another CG at Jaques right after the last one finished, and how VERY dare they make it an exploration CG, AFTER I sold the data I collected getting there?

I was just over 300 LY out from Jaques (in my 19 LY Python) when I thought of that thinking "How am I going to get back to the bubble, then back to Jaques in just 3 weeks when it took me 2 weeks to get there in the first place?"
I got so excited that I raced back to Jaques, sold my cargo (90,000 Cr loss on those rare still things), bought a Sidey, sold the internals, boosted into the station wall - still not dead - flew into a landing pad... KABOOM! ... Free Sidey, yes. I reappear in Jameson Memorial and realise I forgot to sell my cartographic data at Jaques.

Same here, thousands of ly of data all sold, and then I found out about the CG :O

I can relate. I accidentally an A-rated FDL once (complete with military hull, before I knew better) at the rebuy screen. 130 mil or something. Was tired and angry and not thinking clearly.

I took it like a 'man'; ie by crawling under the desk, assuming the foetal position, thumb-in-mouth and weeping manly man tears of man-ness-ness for a good five minutes. Good times. *cough*
