That most of the CG reward modules don't regularly come up in these discussions is perhaps the more interesting point. Larger CRCRs - sure, there's a lot of Thargoid-related activities that benefit from safe bulk carrying nowadays. Even longer-ranged FSDs? What else are people going to do with their 100 saved DWEs, and extra jump range never hurts if you're beyond the point of caring about the cost.
For all that the superiority of Hudson's KWS over Winter's ECM was claimed to swing the Proactive Detection Bureau CG, I don't see anyone complaining that they aren't able to get either module nowadays [1]. Even the modified railgun that Patreus offered - which was considered at least reasonably interesting at the time - doesn't get mentioned. It'd be interesting to see Frontier's stats for how many of the CG reward modules actually get used.
(What this probably means is that the FSDs were far too overpowered and should never have been added in the first place, and everything else is along the lines of a CG exclusive cosmetic - it makes your ship unique without too obviously making it better)
[1] With the benefit of hindsight, a lightweight+shielded ECM might well have some use on enhanced drives builds expecting to face Hunters, where saving that 1t of weight while keeping the module resilient enough not to break if looked at funny has rather more potential than a KWS which uses more power than a ship's entire weapon array just to avoid having to aim it.
