iirc if you logout of the launcher you get access to the demo version of the game, this gives you access to the training missions which unfortunately are solo only.
however unless you've got access to the frontier client im not sure how people can get hold of the demo
edit: just checked the epic store and they have ED on sale for £5.. however the epic games launcher is worse than steam
or iirc if you buy from steam or epic you can refund if youve owned the game for less than 2 weeks and played for less than 2 hours

You can download the actual launcher from here:
(that is an official Frontier site / resource) - I don't know if you can install the "Single Player Combat Training" (what gives the "Play Demo" option) without being able to log-in but it is worth a try. Plus of course one could I suppose register an account at Frontierstore.net and see if that was enough to get the "demo" installed.
