Free Update Idears

We all discuss about new dlc, but what about the free Titel updates?
While quite unpredictable in their own right, i thought we could mention some cool idears :)
Im also gonna try to keep it simple and in the style of the updates we allready got.

Starting of, we got a tree focused update.
Foliage is on of the most important parts of the game for decoration and general building, often also featured as parts of the free update, but theres still not a lot of diversity in the foliage options for some places.
An update adding 1 tree with 3 variations for each continent would greatly increase the variety, with especally australia, south america and north america being in need for some more options.

Similar, a flower update would be great, even if the conservation pack allready helped a ton, but some well known and beautiful flowers like roses are still missing.

The next category would be animal based updates, there to iron out some kinks and make them stand out more similar to the polarbear and behaviour updates. Ideally all of them would also add some signs for them as we can never have enough of them.

My first idear would be a tapir update, fixing up the malayan tapirs model, adding deep diving to tapirs and if its around time for the Aniversery also maybe the south american tapir as a free gift animal, adding the most common in captivity tapir to the game.

Next is the one closest to the polarbear update, a hippo update. This would decrease the hippos gigantuan space requirements, while also fine tuning hippos with their weird relatshionship to water and their unique way of diving.

Third on our list would be an iguana update, freeing them from their exhibit only status.
They would practically be 2 completly new free animals, boosting both our south american and reptile representation.

Fourth is an elephant update. Unlike the other ones, a new mechanic isnt the driving factor here, but simply giving our grey friends more animations to add some personality and more interactivity to our gentle giants. This update could also test out animal and visitor interactions our cross species, making the elephant more unique as a very intelligent animal able to interact, while also giving frontier a limited space to first test out these mechanics before applying them on a large scale.

And thats it for now! Id love to hear your update idears, so feel free to share

I'd love an update to the exhibit system. I'd make the smallest possible size 1/4 the size of the current one, and the largest possible size would be theoretically infinite like regular habitats. I think this would be the best way to introduce animals that are too large for the current system but are unsuitable as habitat animals, like the Green Anaconda and Alligator Snapping Turtle.

My most wanted updates would be:

1) my fix (substantially lower) space requirements for habitat reptiles (other than tortoises) and platypus - they’re essentially unusable if you want a realistic zoo, unless you turn the requirement off for all species.

2) introduce a way of controlling populations in exhibits, introduce smaller exhibits. Enable biome selection for exhibit species.

3) hitboxes!

4) personalities!

5) Build pieces: off-grid versions of all wall sets. Triangular mesh, netting, mulch to match all biomes.

You can fit 4 6ft. iguanas in the current system and have room for more (I'm talking space wise, not welfare)

My rug in my office is slightly smaller than the exhibit system, and this is more than enough space for an alligator snapper. They get huge, yes, but often you don't see them so big (and I've seen them in the wild, too)

Green anaconda just sit around waiting for prey, curled up in a corner; the ONE corner you can't see😅....

Ok, here's my suggestion: comfort animals. Something kinda tough is when you design a habitat for a shy species but they somehow still get stressed because there are too many guests (either to see it or foot traffic). What if we have companion animals that can periodically visit an enclosure and they raise it's comfort up? If y'all want realism, then they can be paired with a trainer that accompanies the animal? I dunno

Yea dogs for cheetahs would be so cool

Oh my, do I have a list for you.

  • Circle shaped billboards
  • Ground cover items like leaf litter, needles, etc. we can place down and are flexicolor
  • Making the sizes of this set consistent
  • More sizes of ropes, more variations in rope curvatures
  • Flexicolor added to the Thatch set, the Metal Plank set, Plastic roof set and India set
  • Mandatory new exhibit box sizes
  • A "vet point", akin to education points we have in the game right now. Instead of entering the exhibit, the vet would then come to one side of the fence, the animal would come to the other side and it would count as an extra bonus checkup and improve the overall health of your animals
  • The possibility to link up vistapoints to an education talk point, so that guests can have a guided tour throughout the zoo
  • Given that there's new variant slots in the game, adding a King Cheetah and Golden Tabby Tiger variant
  • A more accurate indicator for climbing frames so we know why exactly animals cannot climb a specific piece. Simple things like "angle too steep" or "too far away".
  • Flexicolor staff uniforms like in Planet Coaster
  • Hotel mechanic like in Planet Coaster. I know that seems to be a bit controversial to some, but overnight stays at a zoo have been an important aspect of getting funding for zoos for more than a decade now, so it becomes an integral part of zoos
  • Updating older animals with the enrichment items from the DLCs
  • A new guest type that features 8 to 10 kids and 1 or 2 adults, working as a class group. On top of that, the ability to mark an educator as "class group only" so that education points can be used to make classrooms
  • The trigger system from Planet Coaster, so we can make audio, video and effects match up with the rides we have
  • More rides like river rapids, bus tour, etc.
  • I can keep going... 😂

Updates I want to see in no particular order. Some are more important than others.

-Remove Denmark from regions in the Zoopedia for the reindeer. And no, Greenland being under the Danish realm does not excuse this.
-Consistent sizes between all species, and in some cases the size ratio between males/females. The camels were not the only ones being the wrong size.
-Consistent art style between all species. Especially some base game animals feel very cartoonish looking compared to the realistic looks of many DLC species.
-Fix the goddamn Malayan Tapir. You know what is wrong with it.
-New Map Backgrounds. Especially some less extreme-looking ones.
-Exhibit sizes. Especially smaller ones.
-Being able to put juvenile habitat reptiles into exhibits.
-Playgrounds
-Some birds. Frontier clearly doesn't think they can sell DLCs with a single bird in it more than 1-2 times a year, but this is never going to feel like a complete zoo game without some better representation in this area. So they might as well just start giving them out for free to fix this...

Overall update to the climbing system. Smoother animations and brachiation added to the Bornean orangutan.
More advanced climbing animations:
Colombian White-Faced Capuchin Monkey
Proboscis Monkey
Bonobo
Western Chimpanzee

If the capybara has deep diving it seems like the tapirs should be able to dive, especially the Malayan. The nile monitor should have gotten deep diving alongside the gharial, just sayin'

Deep Diving added to:
Malayan Tapir
Bairds Tapir
Nile Monitor

Imagine if elephants fell on their sides into the water! Hippos should move faster and spring off the bottom and just spend way more time in the water

Swimming Animations:
Hippopotamus
African Savannah Elephant
Indian Elephant

Various zoopedia things need to be updated and enrichment items should be updated for more animals to be able to use them (i.e. the scarecrow feeder)

I can keep going... 😂

Ideas :

  • Hotel Mechanic with immersive lodges in animals habitats
  • Feeding by guests via paying food distributors or educator animations
  • More variants of restaurants menus
  • More food truck by region of the world (japanese food, indian food...)
  • Alternative version of the cable car, more realistic and rustic.
  • More size of exhibition vivariums, including the possibility of exhibiting small mammals such as marmosets
  • Added a pet zoo with free farm species (birthday) and the ability for people to interact with them
  • Addition of children's play area
  • Added customizable waving flag as a screen to customize
  • Addition of Natural History Museum-type scenery elements
  • Addition of decorative elements for the creation of a cinema room
  • Addition of larger or smaller automatic brushes, including rocks and plants in an area of a geographical area
  • Addition of a biogas plant factory (methanization) for convert animal waste into electricity
  • Allowing red pandas and Asiatic otter to share their enclosure
  • Allowing Orang Outan and Asiatic otter to share their enclosure

Fixing the Malayan tapir

Manual temperature control in sandbox

Ability to select different biome textures on all maps

More varied maps with less visibility intrusive backgrounds

Netting pieces, full grid building set of mesh pieces including triangles and roof pieces.

Non-electric/light emitting signs

  • Being able to search through animal market by specific biomes and continents.

  • Being able to use dung produced by animals and collected by zookeepers. We should be able to sell it or compost it and maybe even use it to produce and grow food for herbivores which would lower the costs of buying their food and also put some extra bonus for eco farming. That would be neat. New profession - Gardner / horticulturist. Buildings for collection and storage of the animal food.

  • All the buildings from the scenarios should be available in the blueprints section.

  • Maps used in the trailers with ready habitats should be available for download or put in scenarios. Especially aquatic.

  • Tiny huts placed at the border of the habitats with the view on habitats that could be used and rented by guests and bring extra money to the zoo. Also hotels and glamping areas at the zoo.

  • Places where you can interact with the animals - feed them, clean them, play with them. Just as it was in zoo tycoon Xbox edition. First person mode.

  • More exibit animals. Maybe even separate dlc just for them. Diversity in exibit sizes. Adding small mammals to them. Ability to merge exibits.

  • Deep diving for tapirs and monitors and better diving for hippos and elephants. Changes to Malayan tapir and sizes of American buffalo and Indian elephants.

  • More birds and adding fully aquatics animals especially manatees

  • Making it much harder for some species to reproduce. It should be definitely more rare. My giant pandas reproduce like crazy and in real life every captive new born is huge and quite rare. Rare species should also be more expensive and much harder to obtain.

  • We should be able to choose to which reserves we want to release animals that we have breed. And get different amounts of points depending on where they were released. Also news on how they are doing in the wild would be nice.

  • Face painting points and education centers for guests. Playgrounds for kids.

  • Being able to resize building pieces

  • (Ground) Birds
  • Effect Butterflies/Bees/Kois
  • Sandbox: Separate birth and aging (I want my animals to breed, but not to age!)
  • Sandbox: Separate habitat animals from exhibit animals (I want my habitat to breed animals, but I don't want the exhibit animals to breed)
  • Sandbox: Market Overhaul (let me choose what I will!)
  • Netting and Mesh (Grid and non-Grid) pieces
  • Flexicolor for all wall and roof pieces we have (I also have a personal problem with the duplicate building pieces, e.g. the bamboo and temple wall set. I would be happy if the ones that aren't flexicolor could just be removed from the game)
  • Panels (1/2/4m) for the roof pieces
  • Overhaul for the vanilla animals that looks inaccurate (Lion/Snow Leopard/Wolf/Malayan Tapir/...) I currently have mods for the animals so that they look better and I really don't think that's necessary because I know that it can be done better!
  • Statues/Signs in one style
  • Billboard that don't need Energie (We currently have an energy crisis, that would be a nice sign ;) )
  • Round billboards
  • Habitat signs in different sizes (We have billboards yes, but only this one habitat sign where we can link the animals)
  • Bigger group size for the Reindeer (max. 12? Really?)
  • That some animals can't walk over the rocks is just ridiculous. I can remember an enclosure where the cougars didn't walk over the rocks...that cats can climb huge cacti...but not a tiny rock? Same with the sea lions... I built an island out of rocks and they can't get on it? I've seen sea lions jump out of the water onto a high "ledge" at the zoo. It's just frustrating when you build something nice and the animals can't use it.

I'm sure I can think of more (so... if someone says again, the game is near the end -> off to the corner!)
