General / Off-Topic Freemasons

How many real Masons we got playing the game? Reply if you belong to a blue lodge and if your in the SC or YR. I'm a Mason and a 32nd in the SC. Interested in how many we have.

The first rule of Freemason Club is: You do not talk about Freemason Club.
The second rule of Freemason Club is: If you talk about Freemason Club... punch yourself in the face.

"Who will help the widow's son?"

Or the haberdasher's niece? Or the cooper's 3rd cousin, twice removed?

I've no problem with the Masons, though it's unlikely any of them in the past 100 years have cut a stone or laid a brick. My father is a Mason, and tried to get me interested, but I never saw the appeal. Of course, I'm not the most social sort, and opt out of as many social gatherings as I can, as often as I can.

But keep at it guys, you do what you do as well as anyone.

I'm the only person on my fathers side not to be a mason for many many generations. I refused, much to the chagrin of the old man and my uncle. I prefer to be an individual.

What do they do anymore, really? Is there a necessity for it? Contributing to charity is great and I commend that behavior but what is Freemasonry, today, contributing to modern society?

I've not heard them take a stance on anything and I see some of their rules are quite outdated (potentially sexist and/or racist, on account of being old and not updated). Perhaps if they were champions for secular government (as would seem to align with their ideals) I might see a use for that when many state and local governments are trying to inject the Christian religion into legislation and public life.

Eh, oh well. It feels good to be a part of something and if the masons do that for ya, awesome. Personally, I'm a member of my local Ethical Society (Humanism) but we don't have ranks or degrees. Just folks with opinions.

Those who say they ARE a mason, aren't. Those who say they AREN'T a mason are possibly lying. ;)

Although last I checked masons have to confess to believing in a (further nondescript) higher power. Which I find silly in this day and age. Same with the 'only bros allowed' thing. Got nothing against them, but it seems like a bit of a thing that seems out of place in the 21th century.

I am surprised that one of our moderators has not shut this thread down, due to the 1st rule.

On a side note: They are reputed to have been around, in one form or another for 1,000s of years. So are they here in the game, influencing things from behind the scenes?

The Freemasons have come full circle from building cities with brick and mortar to building galaxies with flower ships and plasma.

I believe that all the Masons have moved to America. There is supposed to be a wall that needs building....

One of my grandfathers was Grand Master of a lodge.... if thats the correct term.
