Freeze up in supercruise

Hi all-
I've been having bizzare freezing issues while in super cruise lately- there are times where I can go hours with out a problem, and others when I get locked up every twenty minutes. Issues seem to happen more often when I'm slingshotting around a planet or sun. The game will drop to less than 1 fps a second, and my only solution seems to be a hard reset- cant alt tab, cant control alt delete, nothing. I'm running a gtx 970, which should be able to rock an old game like this no problem- whats the deal? What should I do?

Open play or solo? Sounds like overheating on your cpu/gfx card.

Open play- how is that possible? No offense to frontier, but this game is hardly crysis. I can play far more graphic intensive games with ease.

hit the nail on the head right there. Open play is your reason. Your client pc is probably a super fast gaming processor and the server your playing on in open IS NOT. It is in fact an amazon web server designed for moving data at a variable speed, it has no set throughput so some days you might get superduper speeds flying around stations, planets rez sites with other players, and other days watching a 1 fps show. My advice play in private group or solo, you will see a lot less lag as the AWS will only have to deal with a delayed data stream from your client.

Isn't that slightly problematic that an entire game mode is essentially blocked off to me? Feels like I'm getting slightly ripped off here...

Not really this game is a Multiplayer online, it is not a MMO. Open play is restricted to network traffic and client connections, you can have any amount of players in the same Instance area of space or a planet however network really takes a big dump after 30 connections, we did 100+ on a planet and crashed the server last january.. was told never to do it again. Your not being restricted in this game you just have to accept if you want to play a multiplayer game like eve online or similar that this game cannot deliver that.

If you are having problems with this over a longer period, then your best bet is to contact support. Whilst you can get lots of advice from the forums, support do have access to information about their servers and also your play sessions and so can give a much more definitve answer for your specific case.

I'm sorry, but that is bull    . I don't want to play eve, I want my game to not crash when I'm using a basic gameplay feature that was included in the game by the developers. Your game should be able to handle a solo player wandering around in open play.

As ian said if you have an issue those at the support can help you with it. I rarely play in open myself to laggy there for me.

Sorry- wasn't saying ian's comment was bull (that was actually helpful, thank you), i was saying mog's was bull. A game that has been put for over two years should not have a main mode crippled at random based on servers. If i can easly run it, it should run. The end.

Well when you have been playing as long as i have and have asked a Great deal of other veteran players out there how open play in this game works. The fact there is an ongoing issue as frontier do not host their own servers at all not even the login server is theirs. Perhaps then when you realize your in the wrong you can come back and agree with me. Have a look here im not writing when i say frontier dont own their own servers. https://aws.amazon.com/solutions/case-studies/frontier-games/

this means whenever there is an issue with the servers frontier have to submit a ticket to the support staff just like you have to submit a ticket to frontier.
