Freezing/skipping problems with gtx 970

I'm not really a hardware person, but I just built a new computer.

I got got everything running smoothly except for gaming.

This is game skips all over the place. Can someone let me know their setting for playing?

so far, I've used optimal settings in the GeForce experience. Also, I read to change the resolution in the game and change it back. Seemed to work for a couple minutes.

with a dk2?

make sure your oculus is 0.5 beta and make sure the gtx 970 is up to date.

what is your CPU and clock speed, ram, etc

What graphic settings are you using ingame?
Are you in a DK2?
Have you unparked your cpu cores?

Not enough information to help unfortunately.

The guys here can help you much faster if you list your PC spec like I have below, I had the same issues with that card & returned it for a refund.

I have been doing a lot of reading, and I’m leaning towards that I have to take it back. However, I read that a lot of people got it working too.
1) I don’t know what DK2 is. Also, I’m not using the Oculus Rift, so I don’t think I have to worry about the beta of that.
2) I just tried to unpark my CPU. I used this guide. (http://thehowtoman.com/how-to-unpark-cpu-for-battlefield-4/).

My computer:
Windows 7.1
AMD FX 8350 8 core processor 4GH
RAM 16 Gig
Hard Drive SSD
MotherBoard 970 Gaming msi
Video Card: Geforce GTX 970 twin frozr v

I’ll read your links too.

i ran the furmark and the memory test. Everything seemed to pass.

Also, i called msi support. They said they can do anything to fix it. If I can see the screen, it isn't a problem with the card. Since I have the drivers installed, it should just work.

I know issues like this are a real pain, it's really worth you going through your PC setup as in the steps listed in the link in my earlier post, that will completely rule out any possible hardware issues & should help out with specific Windows 7 setup info too.

It's not DK2 specific. A lot of people have these issues without VR on various hardware configurations. I saw a guy with SLI Titan X's with the same issue (I have it too) all the way down to the minimum specs for the game.

From what I've heard, there may be a new shader to help across the board. Let's hope.

it is the VR forum though and the guy has neglected to share his pc specs lol.

i mean jesus we cant help without knowing what's under the hood...

I met a guy who was bragging about his Titan X purchase and I asked him what his cpu/mobo combo were, gen 1 i7...can you say bottleneck? haha

Does it give you a "driver stopped working" message in the system tray when it slips? I've had this with two brand new GTX cards including a Palit 970. It carried on for a few days and then they just started working normally.

Not sure what it was, either a breaking in period or a bad combo with your motherboard but I'd give it a week before you give up :)

I'm experiencing some pretty extreme stuttering myself, the water cooler on my 290x died so I decided to rma my card and and settled on a 970 until the 390x comes out but this thing stutters all over the place, I've tried various settings and haven't been able to nail it down I'm looking at the card because this was an issue I only encountered after switching them out.

That's not quite right and support shouldn't be saying stuff like that at all imo. just cos you can see the screen it doesn't mean its not the card. If its a new build its hard to pinpoint but from what im reading that card needs returning.
