Frequent Disconnects, even with a stable internet connection

Hello everyone,

I know there are other posts about this and I've looked through them and some on the Steam Page, but nothing seemed to fix this. ._.'

I just recently started to play but every now and then the game just crashes me to the menu with a "Taupe Cobra" or a "Gold Cobra" error and I have to restart the whole game, just to be disconnected again 30 minutes later. :/ That's really annoying since it makes it hard to travel through systems or stations. Other programms keep their connection, no matter if streams, discord or anything. Only Elite seems to kick me out.

Is there any way to fix this or does the game have some problems at the moment? I hope this question does not annoy anyone.

Have a nice day and stay healthy ♥

cheap servers rented from amazon ec2 https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/ (not sure if free tier micro transaction based as David Braben only said amazon ecs as remember all the rest is your own peer to peer connection) and will not pay for higher bandwidth per player slot on said servers due to profit loss...…….
would be my guess as to why this is and why it will always remain so
you are only actually on the servers for brief seconds of data exchange time (amazon micro transaction like shopping)...…. eg every time you enter a new instance wing up or make a trade or mission board transaction the rest is all peer to peer

so what can I do if anything
a vpn or a different vpn may route your connection data path a better alternate route through the amazon ecs network to the server's physical location in Ireland
a little browser test any stop signs are a poor connection sign or slow to populate ticks http://ec2-reachability.amazonaws.com/
ports forwarded or unpn enabled
a wired cat 5 or 6 connection to router
a static ip address(tends to be more stable) https://portforward.com/help/elite-dangerous/

Those are simple disconnects. Even though you have a normally stable connection, the high data activity caused by the lockdown has put a strain on the internet, so there are more frequent disconnections than normal. Secondly, every time a beta is running, many of us suffer disconnects that we don't get at other times, even though we're not playing the beta. I guess FD must divert some capacity to the beta servers or something like that. I've had these disconnects as many as 5 times in one night, though once every 2 nights is more normal compared with none when there's no beta or lockdown.

So I tried this page some time now, especially after disconnects and every sign on there is green - so I assume the problem is something else? :x

Ohhh, that makes sense :/ It's pretty annoying but then I guess once the lockdown things are over and the beta is through, I'll be able to play the game without being kicked every second time I try to jump into a system or onto a station :D I'll look forward to that!

Thank you both for the fast reply!

I have to say due to my location probably(surrey) my connection to this game has been rock solid since 2014 and it is extremely rare for me to suffer any connection problems
apart from when there are known server issues
but I have also seen the sheer amount of complaints of connection problems on this forum so I know itsa big issue for some line db noise over distance don't help
as for the test ya sometimes the servers are just bogged down due to demand

Aww that's sad if it's really a longer running bug or something .-. But I'll hold onto the hope of it being fixed once the Beta thing is done, it's not unplayable for me right now, it's just slightly annoying.

i play using bt fast fibre, game runs fine,2 or 3 crashes a month is norm for me at peak times, hope you sort youre problem out it is annoying
Hmm... well maybe it's an issue on my ISPs side then, I don't know  I'm in Europe, I don't know where the ED Servers are, but maybe some part of the connection there is not working as it should.

Crashing out every few jumps is a lot more frequent than what I mentioned above. As I said, the most I ever got was 5 in one session. To get two in one session is not that common either. If you're actually getting one every 30 mins, something is probably wrong.

Ah damn :/ But actually in the middle of the night I was able to play without a disconnect, even with many jumps. So maybe it's fixed? I don't know.

I don't know where the ED Servers are
the servers physical location is in dublin Ireland as mentioned in post 2 (aws reachability location)
they use there offices in Cambridge England to make "headend" changes which puts me about 112 straight miles away from there practically on top of the aws London relays

Oh sorry! I've overread that. Ireland should not even be that far, but I guess it was just my ISP having issues the past days, since today ED runs fine
