Friend or Foe?

I took part in the debacle of the Protect Salome event ( not going to go into details here though) but it did give me an idea which I feel is needed in the game.

I know Frontier doesn't want to create massive player fleets in the game which is why there is a maximum of 4 people in a wing. But for player run events this can get messy as you have multiple wings flying around all on the same side but those not in your wing is orange just like everyone else.

What if those wings could join up into fleets so the other wings are green in nature? Then once the fleet is disbanded at the end of play each individual wing is kicked from the fleet and go their separate ways. Voice comms in the game should remain wing only though. I know this won't stop a lot of players as they use third party software for this anyway.

The fleet grouping could even be a paid for trait at a station for a limited time only for a fee in credits to stop people from abusing it without some kind of cost involved. A cost that could scale with the amount of wings you wish to add to the fleet.

Or a way to link up our FOF beacons in each wing with a code set up by the fleet commander. Once the FC logs out the code is reset and the fleet disbands.

I think this is why we probably need a situation where commanders who are allied to the same faction/Power or Super-power turn up as a different colour to wingmates. Not perfect, as an ally could still stab you in the back, but a step in the right direction.

Personally I'd be fine with a way to 'friend' or 'enemy' or 'other' mark people and colour them accordingly in game, allowing notes for details, maybe more colours e.t.c.?
