Friendly fire on capital ships with point defense turrets..?

Hello,

I am currently in the Kappa Fornacis system. There I joined a fight with a capital ship and sided with the federals. Now, the first time I was chasing an enemy Eagle. I had two multicannons on a gimbled mount and shot at the guy. Some bullets went past the guy and hit the capital ship in the background. This was instantly interpreted as friendly fire and i was destroyed in a matter of seconds. In my oppinion the reaction was a littlebit over the top, because my weapons caused in fact no damage, but I thought "Ok, be a little bit more careful the next time". Now today I joined again a fight. I was really careful not to hit anybody else than the enemies. Unfortunately an enemy ship layed some proximity mines between me and the capital ship near it. I have two point defense turrets on my cobra which fired at the mines. They are not very accurate and some bullets hit the capital ship, which was again interpreted as friendly fire rendering me as enemy for every ship in the battle. Luckily this time I got away fast enough.

I mean, come on. I am not firing torpedos or rockets at the capital ship. I didn't even unload a full load of multicannon-bullets on it. This way the point defense turrets are in fact useless for me...

Either the capital ship is nasty or the point defense turrets shouldn't fire when a friendly ship is in the line of fire...

I plinked a Fed cap ship yesterday as my target FA flipped and a round went passed. It, of course, killed my poor Eagle in no time flat.

I have to say, in all honesty, that i think the friendly fire mechanics in this game are a bit off. I lost 61 combat bonds (Which is stupid as hell, by the way.. But that's another story) because of it.. Was annoying.
