Friends rage quit today afer running out of fuel.

If I am missing something then by all means correct me but.....This is ridiculous they took out the distress call. How in the hell is anyone supposed to do anything if they run out of fuel? The only option is to self destruct. My friend was new but got so frustrated that he had to loose a few hours worth of work because he cannot do anything but sit there no station around. no distress call. I'm sure this is happening to a lot of new players. And I have been playing since beginning of beta and can still see a possible time this might happen if I tried to go long distances without a scoop. With the cost of bigger ships this could be devastating. End the end it is still a game and taking the distress call out has ruined it for some. This can go hand in hand with the insurance having to be paid after not when buying the ship. You NEED a distress call or something for fuel. Make it cost way more that buying fuel and pay for service. If it is a new player add it to the loan. But for god sakes put it back in before others quit.

Makes me wonder why the heck didn't they refuel their ship before heading to next step of voyage. Kinda daft, imo.

But yea, would be nice if the distress call was there to be used, I guess.

There is a distress call for fuel... well there was one in beta and gamme, assuming its still there. Or...NOTTTTT >.>

I've used it once in the early days... but removing it seems a little backwards. You can blow yourself up but can't call for roadside assist?! lol

Now is a good time to make that mistake. Also a valuable life lesson to check your fuel in the real world. Perhaps equip a fuel scoop next time.

Rage quit of being stupid is stupid...

Z...

No distress signal. 300c scoop should be bare minimum anyone has onboard. high end scoop can refill the tanks within a few minutes, a low end scoop will at least get you to the nearest station.

As was said already, they removed the distress call option at the same time that they added fuel scoops. The cheapest fuel scoop costs 300 credits and fits in a class 1 internal slot. There is literally no reason not to have one.

Yeah, or some sort of emergency solution. I think they removed it due to it being abused which the devs seems to be patently against, which is fair enough. But some other solution might be nice.. a "you can wait x hours to be towed to nearest station" or.. EXHORBANT costs or.. something.

there should be a breakdown recovery service, or request a tow or fuel donation from passing ships?

The distress beacon needs to be realised properly and there needs to be an emergency services profession that is usable by NPC's and/or players.

Obviously this would open up a myriad of game play opportunities with respect to who answers the distress beacon and how they respond to it; i.e. nefariously, financially or altruistically.

It's more like in seconds, if you're not filling 32+ ton tanks (refueling a cheapo hauler for example, with a good scoop, from dry to full takes just a few seconds).

Besides wanting to fit other stuff :) but yeah as it stands now not having one when doing anything out of populated systems is... a really bad idea.

yes there is. It takes up a slot for someone who needs it in a smaller ship for something. And very easily possible for this to happen to even you "anyone" there are systems out there you can jump through that you cannot see the system map of and have no idea if they have stations to refuel which is what happened here. He did not have enough to jump to any other star. And way to much to just tool around in sc till he ran out. This can be a total game braking problem for new people and some oldies caught in the wrong place. Oh and the distress call is definitely not there now. I really hope they do something to remedy this. I can see the frustration.

Why would anyone not fuel their ship ? you can go quite a few long trips in most ships before you run empty so there is plenty of opportunity to fuel up. But im not judging. Ar you sure there is no distress call?

In fact, I -did- run out of fuel once. At the end of a two-hundred system exploration trip, because I thought I was jumping to a class M star and it was a T Tauri orange star instead. I had to self-destruct and lost a half a million credits in exploration data.

I said, man, I am a huge idiot. And I never made that mistake again.

It didn't make me want to quit the game. It made me understand that I had made a mistake, what the mistake was, and how to avoid it in the future.

Getting out and pushing isn't the best option and at my age, I don't think pushing my moobs together and poking my leg out will do the trick... :p

That's good to know. I'm flying a Type-7, I think max fuel uplift rate is 75... It's an A2 scoop but still takes a few minutes refuel.

He did refuel it but ended up in the middle of systems without stations and couldn't jump back or anywhere. He was in a eagle pretty basic Didn't realize they don't have that great of a range in the firstplace. But his main thing was that there was no way to know where the next station was ones he got to far in because none of the nearby system maps were available. Keep in mind a new player.
