From which side do you enter the slot ?

I know that there is no right, left, up or down in space.

Nevertheless I want to know exactly from which side you usually enter the slot, or to be more accurate, when you enter the slot where do you usually see the "inwards" side ?

Why you ask, because of..........

SCIENCE !

And stuff :p.

Green side in and green side out - it's operated like the rules of the sea - vessels pass Port side to Port side (LHS to LHS).

In or out, green on you right. Green is safe, to avoid NPCs, but no guarantees with other real players.

If you go in on the green side and the lights to you right, you have the designed pad layout underneath you. Pads 1 to 4, are in a straight line, under you as you go in.

I enter on the green side... whether that's left, right, top or bottom depends a lot on my approach angle.
I leave on the green too (which is red outside)

Now if we could just get fixes for the Adder, FDL, and Clipper so you're not flying from the damned co-pilot's seat...

From who's perspective... In the left seat, I just get all confused and want a proper setup.
I know most planes do that, but meh... I'm not american...

IDK...can't really tell when backing the T9 in for dock ;)

edit: left right whatever...just enter on the side with the green light.

Always on the green side - that is green light below the bottom of my DBS. I wonder why they made the entrance so narrow while making it so high. There are no ships that are so high and so narrow. :D

Left and right have no meaning if there is no up and down.

Left or right doesn't matter, but you must be on the green side to avoid ships coming towards you. The docking computer always does it with green on the right so you can save a bit of time lining up that way before engaging the docking computer.

This debate has come up before and i recall that FD stated that the rules of the Sea were not the intentions when creating this.

Aren't they just like marine harbour lights? I don't think it matters what way you go in those? Though I could be wrong!

I usually enter from just below and to the left, so either green or red depending on which way up the station happens to be at the time.
I take more care if I'm not in solo and announce inbound/outbound if the station seems busy.
