From X 45 to X 52 Pro?

My throttle on the x 45 (5 Years old) it`s not in the best Shape anymore and i think i will buy the x 52 Pro now.

My Question is,how is the handling of the X 52 pro after a long time in use?

Can anyone tell me if it`s worth the 150€.

Thank you very much.

I have not had mine for long a few weeks and like it and it works well with game. I have had no issues and it is comfortable to play for hours. I have read some negative issues people have had with quality but have not experienced any issues and on Amazon it seems to have a good review from users. I was going to get the standard model but read the Pro is tougher and better made, it is also on sale at amazon at the moment so was only 10 more bucks at 159 (US).

At this time I would for sure buy it over and have enjoyed using it makes a world of difference.

I have the X52, which was a gift from a good friend, and he'd used it constantly for almost 4 years. I've used it since, daily for the whole of 2015, 2-4 hours a day, some days more. Maybe it's because it was made before the Mad Katz takeover, but there isn't a single thing wrong with it..

I've read of people having problems with theirs, but can't find fault with mine, and the previous owner/user is a solid built ex-para..

I have an X-55 for almost a year an despite the "bad press" on these forums haven't had any major issues.
(It looked like it was playing up since 1.5/2.0 was released but a powered hub fixed that!)
But, I love it and it has more switches than I need to use!

I looked at a X52-Pro when I thought I might have to replace the X-55...for the screen it has.
If you use TradeDangerous (which I do occasionally), it can display the next hop in your trade route on the X-52's screen!

How cool is that!

Like you I moved from the x45 to the x52. All has been perfectly fine for about a year, but there are a couple of little issues that take a bit of getting used to. The throttle detents on the x52 are a little annoying (at 25% and 75% you have a little 'catch' on the slide, if that makes sense), and the main hat switch on the stick feels way too close to the base of your thumb in so much as it's awkward to use while yawing and rolling at the same time.

The model of stick your using was made by saitek and has their level of quality. I could write for hours my problems. Its the classic "if it works you tell 5 people, if it breaks you tell 500". So you'll eventually get a flood of "avoid it, its poo".

Personal experiance, i went through 5 models, 1 x-52, 1 x-52 pro and 3 x-55's. I watched youtube videos of people hating them for various reasons and convinced myself, nah theyre fine. Well mine werent. Sure others will write loads out like i have before but personally all i'd really say you must concentrate on is buy it from somewhere with a good returns policy. I bought my X52/pro from pcworld in the uk who care so deeply about a faulty product i could of returned a pile of bricks in the box and they'd of taken it. Amazon was the ones where i got the three x-55's and thanks to prime had all three in my house and mixed and match the faults to a working model...for about 2 weeks, amazon were kind enough to basically say "keep it, return it within the year and find an alternate model your happy with".

Current setup is a ch pro throttle and warthog flight stick, never looked back since.

TL: DR - you might be lucky and get a solid model, go for it but just be aware they have their rep for a reason.

Had my x 52 since closed beta, so maybe one and a half years. Right off the bat the safety latch broke on the B button, and it doesn't snap open anymore. At this point, the mini joystick on the throttle that controls the mouse regularly outputs random movement which causes my pilot to jerk his head, the hat switch on the throttle sometimes does not work, and the joystick sticks when I try to return it to the centre position. I would invest in a better device to be honest, since it seems fairly random what parts of your x 52 will break. Given the chance, I would have bought the cheaper thrustmaster instead, as the build quality seems better, and the 150$ i spent on the x 52 is a little hard to stomach.

I'd save the money and get something more reliable from a company that actually gives a <censored> about QA and it's customers. MadCatz isn't that company.

You might get lucky and get a solid unit. More likely you're going to get one that's defective right out of the box, or will break shortly after, and then have to deal with their terrible RMA process. MadCatz isn't particularly prompt with their returns service, so if you have to send it in, be prepared to wait months and be given the runaround when you inquire about the status of your RMA.

If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have gotten the X-52 Pro. It's a great stick, when it works, but the absolutely terrible build quality/QA and the couldn't care less mentality of the manufacturer isn't worth the money they want for it.
