Hi all,

As a long time poster but mainly lurker, I've posted a few tribute videos for Frontier over the years (this is a new Frontier account to link to my Kickstarter profile).

Frontier has been my favourite game since its release in 1993, though it undeniably featured a challenging learning curve when it came to combat. I spent many, many years putting up with it until suddenly things clicked and my experience was transformed.

As such I thought I'd put together as succinct a combat tutorial as I could, in the hope that it would help some people out there who haven't yet had the "Eureka!" moment.

I found the Frontier fundamental videos on youtube a while back, and discovered the same feeling. I decided to start a new game last month and I have found it thoroughly enjoyable since!

Thanks Kerrash! Yes 'Frontier Fundamentals' is a fantastic set of videos, pretty much essential viewing for anyone coming to the game fresh or from a long absence.

Great video, very to the point.

A bit of shame that you haven't used some other ship, though, you can't see the side thrusters firing on Eagle, and that would have made the jousting illustration with external view much more illustrative.

I would actually advise against going there for either info on ship types or combat tips.

First are often plain wrong, second are mostly right, but perpetuate jousting myth and gives no tips for fighting this behaviour.
There is also this alternative advice posted by a reader which is just bunk:

It's good for other sorts of stuff, though.

AJN was a great resource for space combat, but alioth.net seems down.

Arbitrary speed limit and so on.

Frontier didn't give up realism for gameplay, but rather attempted to make the former enhance the latter.
This seems to not be the case with E4.
