Frontier Always Misjudge Christmas Events 🙄

Well, they've done it again. I don't know how they manage it, but every year Frontier manage to misjudge the event they set up for players for the Christmas and New Year period. Be it a Community Goal or, this year the defence of Sol from Cocijo. Every time they set up something players can get involved with all through the holiday period it's all over more than a week before Christmas because they release it too early.

They do this every year! Have they not figured this out yet?

Make your own! Alec Turner has a Christmas countdown thread, I used to do a screenshot thread for a couple of years.

If that doesn't appeal perhaps FDev will have something else closer to the 25th & this Thargoid thing might be 'just' for the 10 year anniversary.

What makes you think this is that event, since Frontier haven't said in any way that it is?

That's presuming that the last Titan is the Christmas event this year....

Surely the timing of the last Titan was totally dependent on the speed on which the other Titans were destroyed? If they took longer to take down it's possible this event might be happening after Christmas, or happened a couple of weeks ago. Besides, the only Christmas event worth waiting for is the free ARX bonus!

The Christmas event could be a CG delivering goods to repair all the damaged Starports.

I do also doubt this is actually the Christmas event, those usually involve some kind of small riddle(s) to solve and visiting a couple starports in various systems (please no Alpha Centauri again?)… the Thargoid stuff would’ve been more of a backdrop.

Although I still think it’s ‘meh’ this is not running over another week at least before the Titan is ready for shooting because players are too ridiculous in their Thargoid clearance ability Fromtier didn’t bother supporting it beyond a week of relatively nothing except evacs as the Titan wanders over, then a week of cleanup bashing, and where we are now.

As a temporary “Sol under attack by a Titan” event this might have worked fine but viewing it under the “Last stand of Titan 8” light just makes it seem extremely underwhelming. Literally the only reason it took any longer than the Titan usually would have is because it took a week to get to Sol. And there’s still waiting for the supposed “narrative” making this more than just some gameplay thing with zero further importance.

I don't think this is the christmas event.

Cocijo's meltdown is very likely meant to be Elite's 10th anniversary event, since the game released on 16 December 2014... next Monday.

Christmas events seem to have a seasonal theme to them if I remember rightly... the last one certainly did. Delivering presents to locations by solving simple riddles.... along with tugging the heartstrings to the extent that I subjected myself to doing the Hutton Orbital run again about 6 years after swearing I'd never do it again!

Speaking of, when is the ARX bonus this year? It has started on the 13th every year I believe, I even put it on my calendar to make sure I'd be playing now but nothing is happening. Guess I'll go try and do this titan thing instead then.

All participants are getting SCO drives, relevant to newcomers.

I am on the train that takes us away from the bubble with new SCO drives, for I feel the war with the Thargoids true purpose in the bubble is related to Guardians and hasn't been revealed.

But I agree that many people may not have the time to play thru Christmas so there should only be low key events.

We may not be getting the notifications but we are getting the ARX.... At least that's the only reason I can think of as to why my ARX total keeps going up by 100 each day.

Are you attacking the Titan by any chance? You get ARX for that too.

That could be it... The only other Titan I attacked was Taranis (feels like a lifetime ago) and I thought the ARX reward was given at the end, not during. Still, gives me an additional incentive to keep going after Cocijo.
