A few facts:

Cuba has won more olympic baseball gold medals than any other country.

Out of the last 10 Ryder cups, the US has won 3, Europe 7.

The last US male to win a grand slam tennis title was Andy Roddick in 2003.

The USA played in the first international cricket match, but sadly lost to Canada.

Best result for US soccer team, losing in the semi-finals of the World Cup, in 1930.

So not an unmitigated story of success :)

So, what you're saying is... Cuba is better at baseball than the US,

Lets forget how preposterous that is for a moment and consider why, in whatever 'tournaments,' you might be right.

Why would we ever have to prove that we're the best at baseball? Everyone knows it. Our best, 20-40 million dollar a year athletes should muddle away at some stupid tournament to prove... what exactly?

So the rest is what. Golf? You really want to go there?

Tiger and Jack. Enough said.


Then what? Tennis? Oh yeah. Well... sometimes we care, and when we do we produce some good/the best talent. But you guys can have tennis. I'll give that to you. We'll forget all of our greats in tennis.

The next was.... what? huh?........ Cricket? What?

Yeah. We don't play cricket. Enjoy getting your butt kicked by the Indians and Pakistanis in that weirdo game.

So..... Yeah.

The thing is, international sport moves on. Jack Nicholas was great, but so was Bobby Charlton. Tiger Woods is currently ranked 209 in the world.

Europe and North America once dominated the sporting world, but China and other developing countries are catching up. The world of sport is changing.

Hold on to the idea of Bobby Charlton and the rest of the sporting world 'catching up.'

It will always be USA vs. The World. We'll win more times than not.
