Since day one of this game's public availability, the community has had all of the same resounding complaints. Not ONE of them has been addressed. Instead, what we've gotten is new stuff that we never asked for, but once we got it we thought it was cool, until FDev decided to nerf the hell out of their own cool idea and make everything suck again ... typically, this has been done by simply keeping every activity in the game (at least non-meta activities) so laboriously time consuming that the only fun to be had consists of playing a nice spotify playlist and having other insanely bored Elite players to talk to while you plug away. But, on rare occasion, they've actually come up with something cool and immediately made it un-cool, like two parents who can't decide how to raise their children. The worst offense of all has been the addition (and subtraction) of Fighter Bays and AI Pilots for hire. This is the most confusing thing to me, especially since as they have it now, flying a fighter for your friend gets you a fraction of the payout as flying in a wing alongside them, and this would make sense, except that you can't be in a wing while you have a player controlled crewmember!
So all of this begs the question ... why do we never get things we desperately want (such as a truly dynamic economy, such as making all that freight trash actually have a use other than "source us some trash" missions), and keep on getting updates for things we care nothing about (look what's next! An organized inbox! Praise be!!) ...?
I suspect the answer is simple. They can't. The only time I ever saw Fdev make a move toward trying to give players what they wanted was with player-"run" factions ... but their inability to code this system into the game (something that many games just have from day one) was SO stark that they actually had to use an email submission system to code in these player created factions by hand!!! THINK ABOUT THAT!!! Somewhere early in the making of this game, something went very wrong that made this game that was supposed to be infinitely growing and changing into a dev nightmare (or they're just lazy?) that keeps anything fundamental from being changed for the better.
So, while I'm wishing that my trades mattered, and struggling to care about the non-paying JOB that is PowerPlay, and all of the things I feel the slightest bit of love for in this game get nerfed, I guess the guys who really have it figured out are the ones hanging out in Quince, Ceos and Sothis. So, Frontier, when you finally do get around to figuring out a solution (add stations around these locations, idiots) to those exploits, the players who rely on them to do the only thing that allows them to progress in this game in a way that isn't mind numbing will quit without a blink.
Nerf one more thing. We dare you, Felicia.
