Elite / Frontier Frontier: Elite II Playing Again

I have decided to continue my save game with the aim to reach Elite status after only achieving Dangerous status (back in the day).

Using WinUAE and this Special Edition (I compiled)

Plus I am gonna use a DB9 to USB adapter, which means I can use my Naksha Amiga Mouse! (and will work with my Zipstick too)

Does anyone have plans to continue a previous Elite game while you wait for ED?

I plan on playing my first game soon, FFED3D most likely as I'll need it for planetary location research for my book, if my characters are at a tech 12 three jumps inside the border of the federation and heading for the alliance it will be nice to name the next place they stop and get the description in line with the same planet in the current universe I.E. rich agro cs or poor indust. anarchy

the first system i'm looking for is a tech 12 is with a blue giant star about a jump away.

any ideas?

Continue breakpointUK? I never stopped! Well.........actally, I have. My A4k is being a bit naughty at the moment, but once it's fixed I will still be using my saved commander I originally created in 1993 Objective: (since I maxed out all but the Empire ratings) is to pay off a mega fine I "incurred" for a slight mis-understanding involving a dodgy mouse button, a cargo of narcotics, an unbribeable police officer and 20 plus wreaked police Vipers. Not my fault the old Amiga mouse has a dodgy switch, that's what started it all off!

Agreed, Geraldine - I never stopped either, although admittedly most of my playing has been through JJFFE.

Mind you, I'll need to see how well my ancient laptop handles DOSBox for my FE2 save - probably not too well...

try GLFrontier, doesn't use dosbox

and try glffe for First Encounters, high-res textures etc

I've never had much luck with the openGL ports of the Frontier games - dunno why.

Then again, most people that see my computer systems are left scratching their heads wondering how the heck I've managed to get them working...

I started a new commander last year on an accelerated Amiga 600. So so good to play this game running smoothly. I gave it a whirl on a stock A600 and I can't believe I actually used to play as much as I did at that frame rate.

I'm planning a tour of various space sims from throughout the years while waiting for E: D.

Missed Frontier but got into FFE. Started a game of Frontier last week. Average Corporal at the moment. Eta Cassiopia does not have the quantity of missions available in Frontier. Any hints how to improve my ra k?

Yeah I played it on the stock A1200 back in the day, I couldn't play it without acceleration now

I'm playing the Amiga version of FE2 on WinUAE as well. I have no way of reading my old Amiga disks, yes I have an Amiga but never investigated how I can just read the disks and xfer things over so I started from scratch on FE2.

I know my Amiga can read MS DOS formatted disks, well, 720K ones but that is pretty much a pain but would be enough to get FE2 save files off. Because FE2 was so slow on my Amiga I got a 030 accelerator onboard but for whatever reason never got that far in it so I better just start from scratch here which I have been for the last few months. Really enjoying FE2.

I used the Sharoma site thanks to Geraldine to remind me how to work things again.

Trying to get into FFED3D now but find the starmap a little tricky to use.....
