Frontier Expo 2017 - Thankyou

Hi all,

I just wanted to post a thread to say a huge thank you to the whole team @ Frontier for putting on a fantastic event this weekend. FX17 was a blast, with a great friendly atmosphere, good guest speakers & a fantastic party afterwards! Was great fun right to the last song of the night!
The Anniversary update for PlanCo looks really cool with some nice features & new coasters from community feedback which is excellent. The Elite Dangerous lot seemed very happy with their announcements too, and you have certainly stirred up some hype & expectation for JWE as it looks amazing!

Was great to put faces to names for some of the friends I've made through the Planet Coaster community & the chance for a chat with Bo, Ed & the developers about PlanCo & Jurassic World Evolution! I've got home today & am very intrigued what "PDLC5" is from the free item codes given out in our goodie bags! :) (it doesn't auto-install on Steam...? Probably because the Steam appID for it still shows as "Pre-release")

I have one piece of constructive criticism that is there wasn't much (or any) Planet Coaster or Jurassic World Evo Merchandise available, everything was Elite Dangerous T-Shirts, Books etc from what I saw, which was a bit of a shame but by no means put a dampener on the day.

So again thank you to everyone @ Frontier & the Here East Centre for making it a fun & memorable day. Looking forward to the next one!

Ryan.

I had so much fun too! I would have liked more merchandise too.. But I do understand there were more Elite fans there. I think Gulpee plushies would have sold well, especially with the kids. I would have bought one for myself. A really good event with lots of different activities. It was lovely to mix with the elite community and share our passions together.

Can only repeat what was put, thankyou for a great expo and so looking forward to the future of Planet Coaster.

Thanks for organizing this and giving us all a great fun day.

It was great catching up with all you amazing Frontier guys again. It always makes me happy seeing you all. I would like to add that Bo and Ed did an amazing job keeping it all together and their warmth is always there.
And spending time again with good, dear friends I've been lucky to have met up with regularly, all because of this wonderful game that brought us together. As well as the other amazing folk I've met before. And of course, it's always good to meet people you've never actually met before too and finally put a face to the name. And James, it was great to finally meet you. I know you was in Europe, but even so, to make the trip from NZ was just incredible.

So I'm already looking forward to the next community meet up. It's rare and special to have such an amazing group of people in an on-line community.

Thanks everyone.

Definitely echoing this!

Thank you Frontier for an amazing event. Was great to put names to faces, and have great discussions with the Devs about the future of the company and the games.

I look forward to the next community meet up wherever it may be! (Maybe a PlanCo meet up at a theme park again?!)

IMO the expo was more of a meet & greet than anything, for the people who showed up in person. I want to go but its too far for me, maybe next year they can come to the US! [praise] I usually skip the off-topic talks like the astrology guy, but I enjoyed the chat with Rudi, Silv, and Delady. The actual Planet Coaster showcase was a bit small imo, hopefully there is more QoL/UI fixes coming that they did not have time to detail at the expo. For me, the scenario editor is a huge announcement, but it didn't get a lot of attention.

I still wish the DLC had a little more to offer though, like entertainers and/or animatronics of doc brown and the munsters! and staff uniform color options so king coaster doesnt have to be white all the time

Yes, I have to say I'm very thankful that I could go to the Expo!
Besides the talks it was amazing to meet the devs and people behind the scenes from Frontier and get more information and getting questions answered. It was amazing how open they all are!
And the welcoming atmosphere made it very enjoyable.
As well meeting other community members (again) is such a great part of those meetings, and I hope to see all again soon.

Thank you Frontier for all your dedicated work and passion about the games AND the community!
Cheers
Tom

About PC? [woah] I wonder how that worked when the stream was the extent of their willingness to share information.... [mouth shut]

Oh! No, that came across wrong haha! I'm not privy to anything more than the rest of you. It was just nice to see the excitement they show for what they are working on and for the future.

Frontier Expo 2017 was genuinely one of the best days of my life, and watching back videos makes me smile from ear to ear :rex::face:
I'll post my adventures of the expo later this week.

For now I'd love to share some videos with you, which are especially nice for all of the wonderful community members that weren't able to attend the event! :)

Live performance of the Planet Coaster theme and a nice surprise: the Whirly Rig shanty.
Thanks to the amazing Jim Guthrie, J.J. Ipsen, James Stant, Jim Croft and others. Thanks to SPRidley for recording and sharing the video!

I don't think the fact there were more Elite fans there is enough reason not to have Gulpee plushies :D

I've been to a few Elite Meets and other fan organised events now and the joy and passion with which Frontier engage in those meant that I knew that their own event was going to be a huge success and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I had a really amazing time, it was really great to meet you again Wingardium and Deladysigner too, having met you both at the launch event. I had the absolute privilege of meeting Joël, who is just as amazing in person as I knew he would be. So humble, but so full of energy and so helpful and attentive to everyone. I was also quite shocked when Games4Tom came up and introduced himself to me and introduced Whitesider too. It was really nice to meet you all.

I got to say hi to Bo very briefly (I'm really sorry about the camera issues :() had a really good chat with Zac (the birthday boy) and Ed who, as always, was a legend. Both Ed and Bo did a truly fantastic job all day long and were gracious and generous with their time throughout the evening.

For me the thing I love most about meeting devs at the Elite events is their willingness to talk to you and the passion with which they do. I knew the Planet Coaster devs would be the same, but it was really great to see that they were. I had a really nice chat with Matthew Florianz, who is an amazing man. Also got to chat to James Stant and Andrew Chappell. And then there was Sam Denney... Oh dear, you ever had one of those moments where you want the ground to open up [haha]

Sam and Andrew were sat on the computers making parks in Planet Coaster just after the event opened, I was having a chat with them and was kneeling down next to Sam. I said goodbye to him... stood up... hit the computer... pressed the reset button and destroyed his park [uhh] Now that is how you make a first impression lol. He was very gracious about it and not angry, which I was glad of.

All in all a truly fantastic day, ended by getting to listen to Jim Guthrie, J.J. Ipsen and the Lake Band. Roll on 2018

Oh and 1 last thing. I was in the second stage when the announcements were being made. The room next to us was the VIP room, full of all the streamers. I have never heard a cheer as loud as when they announced picnic benches [haha]

Love you guys and girls [big grin]

Great day, sign me up for Expo 18

I thought it was a great day and met up with several coaster heads and also elite fans who tried to introduce me to the game. I would love to see more merchandise next year as I was willing to spend so much more money than I did but overall very happy.

It was also great to meet people who work so hard at Frontier, even had a chat with Spoiler Sam but he didn't give anything away unfortunately.
