Elite / Frontier Frontier - First Encounters Save Game

Sorry if this has already been asked, I did try a forum search but nothing came up.

I was directed towards the Elite Forever site yesterday and downloaded the version of First Encounters (the version of Elite I'm most familiar with). I had it running in the background all day and kept coming back to it, I had about 150,000 credits by the time I closed it down...when I realised that all my save files didn't go anywhere and when I opened it again, I was back at the beginning.

I can't see anything anywhere that indicates how to actually save the game, although I do have a habit of "looking with my eyes closed". Can anyone shead any light?

Apologies I completely forgot there was an issue with save games with the version of FFE on the Elite Forever site. Synchromesh (who set up the site) I am sure will look into it. In the meantime here is some alternative links.


Frontier Astro, another great Elite site has links to FFE and FFE3D (a high resolution re-make)

Also, you might be interested in other re-makes

Oolite (for a nice rendition of the original Elite)

And Pioneer (looks alot like Elite II and is still being built but fully playable)

Thanks for that. I've installed FFE3D and it's great. Combat at the beginning seems to be a bit harder "Your ship is under attackBANG!" but I'm slowly getting some funds up. New ship here I come!

That's the way to go. Buy a bigger ship, stick some shields on it and you can survive a bit longer :smilie:

Glad your up and running Matt With regards to FFE3D, dont forget to keep an eye on this thread as new updates are being worked on.

Oh and one last thing, Since you worked so hard at building up all that money with FFE but couldn't save it, here is a link to an editor to get your stats back up to where they were. Use it with care

Fixed now....I have created installers for Frontier and First encounters....all the saves will stay put
