Frontier please read

I write this because I have been saved by them(Fuel rats) and I can't not give them enough credit for what they do for the game. I was a new CMDR travelling outside my little bubble for the first time and ran out of fuel. Newbie mistake. I was saved by a fuel rat named steam priest helped me out of a jam. I am asking that Frontier think of maybe letting Fuel rats to transfer over a ship so that upon startup of PS4 servers we have some of them helping newbies out of jams.

i agree with this statement 1,000,000%

As a Fuel Rat, I disagree with this request.

Why? It sets a bad precedent of entitlement. Should Fuel Rats be given special treatment? If so why not Adles Armada? They help newbies by patrolling Eravate etc and killing gankers. Why not The Code? They bring emergent content the game doesn't provide, which some enjoy.
Also we've always been very careful about privileges no-one else got: Decals; rescue ship skins; bases; factions. When we've asked for something, like Repair Limpets, they would not be locked only to Rats, but for every CMDR to have available.

Besides which, any existing Fuel Rats would of played on PC (or no transfer would be available), and therefore be knowledgeable enough to farm up a Hauler / Cobra / AspX quick enough.
Selfishly, yeah it'd be great to have an engineered ship transfer over to skip a bunch of grind (especially a rank-locked ship), but why not any PC player then.

So I have to disagree, as I think it'd cause contention we don't want from other groups.

I'm not a fuel rat, but I agree with the above quote. The Rats are a talented and experienced bunch, so they'll be in a DBX or an ASPX faster than most of us anyway

Yes to decals rescue skins though, they thoroughly deserve that sort of thing, the Fuel Rats are one the greatest things to come from the ED community

Yeah sure there will be some existing rats coming over to the PS4 from other platforms but the impression I get is that most people do it part time so it's up to us to step up to the mark and make sure there are enough willing bodies with the appropriate ships ready. The dispatch team are of course all ready and in place. Can anyone give us approximate numbers of existing rats that are coming to PS4? I know they have some good stats on rescues, we can look at the XBox numbers for a rough guide to what we are expecting, with the added factor of new players coming in of course.

I would rather FD allow you to login to your commander from any platform. If you have the game installed on PC , Xbox or ps4 you should be able to use the same commander name and password regardless of the device running the game. I would buy multiple versions of the game to accomibate this personally.

When you buy a game licence from Microsoft some have dual licence PC and Xbox, so this would be good.

If this was the case a fuel rat could if they wanted..... jump into a ps4 for a single reduce and then log back into PC to continue.
Surely your ship and position coordinates are the same regardless of the platfrom.

Granted you shouldn't be able to be logged into more than 1 at a time.

I respect everything the fuel rats do. But any rats moving to PS4 would have to earn their decal on the platform. Just my 5 cents.

I totally agree with your sentiment and appreciation of the fuel rats.

But it is also pretty easy to rank up enough to get a ship with a decent jump range and fuel transfer limpets, and I expect the PS4 fuel rats will enjoy doing that again - my friend and I had a lot of fun starting over for our longplay series "Two Guys in Space."

I'm a huge fan of "Play Anywhere" and "Cross buy" where you buy a game once and can play it on multiple systems. Hopefully there's more of that in the future of gaming.

While myself, and countless other folks at the office greatly enjoy Fuel Rats and their services given in the game, we do not give out free ships or boosted ships. Every commander has to work their way up the ranks.

I'm pretty sure theres a commander who just gets billions for free, saw him stream and his bankaccount does not look legit. Ed Lewis is his name or so... :D

Exactly this. Just like Stinja and the others have said we haven't asked, and we won't ask for treatment. We'll do what Rats have always done, we'll wing up for trade or bounty hunting, help each other to get credits for new ships, and if worse comes to worse we'll make do with whatever we have. There's literally no ship in game that can't be used to refuel another ship. It may be really painful to refuel in a Sidey or Eagle, but it doesn't mean we don't have Rats that enjoy the challenge in doing it :)

The fuel rats were on here a couple of weeks ago recruiting for PS4, If you scroll through the pages you will see their recruitment thread.

They seem like they had it under control and there was no incline from their post that they were going to struggle with ships/recruits etc etc. They seemed EXTREMELY CONFIDENT about providing their service to PS4 players so I would not worry about this in any way.

We will provide a service no matter what, but it's dependant on times Rats are available, so more (and diverse timezones) is always good.

So hypothetically if the signed up rats are say all British, then being in Europe +2 hours will still be fine, however Australians and Kiwis are going to have problems trying to get rescued, with Americans maybe having to sign out until a rat comes on in their evening.
Then of course real life may interfere too, so if we get very few rats covering a certain timezone, and they go out for the night, there's no rescues.
In reality there should be a spread to cover everything, but if 4 rescues come in at once, then CMDRs may have to wait if only 2 rats are on duty.

It's probably best to experience and enjoy the game first if anyone is new to Elite, although we'll obviously welcome all and sundry.

tl;dr more rats is good, read and sign up if interested: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/314714-Fuel-rats-need-you

Are the Rats going to be made an official ingame faction? Because I think that'll help alot in their rescues.
The galaxy is shared, so the existing (PC/Xbox/OSX) faction will be in the PS4 galaxy already.

The faction home is Wollheim Vision in the Fuelum system: https://eddb.io/system/4878

Ditto this sentiment - the minute you start favouring one over another you cause issues. Equality please.
