Pay increases and pizza all round.
LONDON (Alliance News) - Video game creator Frontier Developments PLC said Wednesday that profit for its recent financial year will be ahead of expectations after strong Christmas and Easter sales last year.
Frontier said that it had experienced "strong sales" over November, December and the Easter weekend in 2016 and that its two franchises, Elite Dangerous and Planet Coaster, had been helped by the company adding content, updates, and extensions to the games.
The company now expects revenue for the financial year that ended March 31 to have been GBP36 million, a 68% year-on-year increase. Frontier also expects to achieve an operating profit margin in the new financial year of 15% to 20%, compared to 6% in the recent one.
Frontier Chief Executive David Braben said he expects further revenue growth in the future when its third franchise is released in 2018. It said the game is based on a Hollywood movie of "global renown" but didn't name the movie.
He added: "The launch of Planet Coaster has driven a step-up in our financial performance, and we now have two strong franchises in the market following our successful transition to self-publishing."
Frontier will release its full audited results in September. Shares were up 13% to 345.00 pence on Wednesday.
