Description
I really don't know if you put any effort in testing or even propperly designing your micropay cosmetics. I payed a lot of money up 'till now. I saw a lot of bugs and errors around textures, ship kits, bobbleheads and such, but didn't bother to say anything. Now I see how much effort you pay to create and test those cosmetics. Your latest cutter stuff is a huge disappointment and this was the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Without further ado, here are your cosmetic fails.

Paintjobs:
(Any) Blue Pulse Paint Job: I paied for a blue pulse paintjob. It never was really "blue" to begin with. It was super bright cyan which looked more like white with some petrol accent. Now it is white... Like any other pulse paint job. Independent of color or ship model. Sometimes they aren't even symmetrical and if the Anaconda gets visible hull damage, the whole paintjob goes full berzerk.
Dazzling: Why can't you leave some space for the nameplate, ID and decals? Really? Is it that difficult? This should be a factor on any paintjob.

Ship kits:
ASP: parts cover ID and make the pharao paintjob look stupid.
Corvette: looks wierd with predator paintjobs. Make the ship parts response to the paintjob instead of just using the background paintjob color.
Vulture: parts cover half of some vents. they stick right out of it. It looks super buggy, and should overheat my ship.
Cutter: every time I enter or exit the hangar, my front thorns should rip either my ship or the station apart. Miraculously there's no damage. Make thorn shorter or place Cutter docking center a little more front.
Python Raider: bottom thorn should ram a hole in the docking plattform. Miraculously there's no damage. I don't even know how I can dock like this. Make thorn shorter or landing gear higher.

Bobbleheads:
Saturn slices always through Jupiter. Miraculously there's no damage. For real, add collision to the ring... It triggers me. Like everything on that list.

Some feedback: Please rework that stuff. It is expensive. I know that you use the money for development, but please don't do quick and dirty jobs for quick money.
And sorry for my rude report here. There's a lot of frustration in this...

Fly safe

Steps to Reproduce
1. Buy some cosmetics for any ship and apply it.
2. Search for bugs.
3. Be p... uh... angry.
4. Write Bug report.

Nobody forces you to buy. If you buy, contribute to the development of the game which means helping them to find bugs.

Got to admit, OP has a point. You have to buy the paint jobs to discover the imperfections. The preview in the landing bay only gives you a limited appreciation under abnormal lighting at times.

I think "meh" every time I put the front bumper of my raider pack on the Python - I get an iron bar across the base of the windshield (it may have been intended, but it's very annoying because it obscures forward vision). For $12 ! I also grimace every time I drive through the Raider attachments in my SRV .... because of course, they are cosmetic only.

Image of the front view shows what I mean - is that iron bar supposed to be so high it runs across the windshield?

Yes, the Dazzle paint job on my FAS does obscure part of the name plate .... whether I use white, grey or black lettering because, of course, it is made of multi shades. I'm not bothered by it, but I can see it would annoy some people and, in real life, that kind of issue would be addressed.

I completely agree with the OP.
I've spent quite some money in the store but the overal quality of the items I bought is very low.
Paints warping when zooming out, parts of the ship not covered, decals out of alignment, you name it.

This is stuff we pay real money for, it should be top quality.
I've done a lot of paintwork in MS Flight Simulator and it's realy not that hard with a good template, a lot of the paints in the Frontier store are just sloppy and made with minimal effort.
ED looks fantastic, the store items are quite below par in comparison.
If other companies can make awesome looking paints for their vehicles, weapens, etc. in game then FD can do it too no doubt.
It's just a matter of putting in some effort.

FD should be ashamed of themselfs by delivering such poor quality on payed items.
It might not be a priotity to FD but it should be, we pay extra for those items.

I'm on Xbox btw but the problem is the same.

It would be nice if the in-game store menus would show the correct colors! For Pythons: Pirate Faction Red shows blue, Predator Blue shows red, Predator Lime shows cyan, Predator Green shows yellow/green, Predator Red shows cyan/blue, Predator Teal shows brown, Pulse Red shows blue, Vibrant Yellow shows cyan, Vibrant Orange shows light blue, Vibrant Red shows dark blue, etc.

Oh, and Weapon Detailing Cyan & Engine Color Cyan? They're both yellow in the livery selection.

Update:
I figured out what the problem with glowing Paintjobs are.
Since I play Elite a lot in VR, I use the "VR HIGH" quality settings in game. I also play Elite without VR , of course, but it since I bought my Vive, I kept my graphics quality setting to "VR HIGH", even in normal mode. Yesterday I experienced some graphic issues because of my second display. It has nothing to do with this issue and I've fixed it by now, but because of these issues, I tried experimenting with the graphics settings of Elite.
As it turns out, the glowing Paintjobs are affected by the "BLOOM" settings. I had it turned off, as it is a default in VR settings. I turned it on and saw, that my Anaconda was glowing again. Unfortunately, I had FPS drops, which leads to motion sickness in VR so I turned it off again. My question to FDev here is, can you modify the paintjobs to glow, whether "BLOOM" is turned on or not? Can you make it glow without applying "BLOOM" to everything else? Can you reduce the resources this effect takes?

By the way, please don't ask me to reduce quality to "VR MEDIUM" or lower and then apply "BLOOM". I tried that and still had framedrops

Hey Cmdrs,

Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the frustration caused.

I'm glad you got the glowing effect working by turning on the Bloom setting. The description on the store does mention that you need this enabled for the glow to work.

As this is feedback I'll be moving this thread to the feedback and feature request section. If you have any single specific issue with any paintjob or Ship kit can you please create a new bug report with screenshot so we can investigate further.

Regarding the fluorescents, at the moment the store says:

Quick Overview

Entice your passengers, bewilder your foes and excite bystanders with these cutting edge Pulse paint jobs!

Details

The Imperial Cutter fulfills a similar role as the Corvette for the Imperial Navy. The design philosophy reflects Imperial sensibilities as it is faster and more elegant than the Corvette, but doesn’t quite match it in firepower.

Product Information

Purchasing a paint job or decal in the Elite Dangerous online store allows you to use it in-game via any star port station services.

When docked in your Imperial Cutter, bring up the Starport Services Menu. Navigate to the Outfitting menu and select 'Paint Jobs'. Any paint jobs or decals you have purchased will be available to be applied to your ship.

  • Paint jobs/decals are for use with the PC and Mac versions of Elite Dangerous ONLY.
  • This paint job/decal is for use with the Imperial Cutter ONLY.
  • It does NOT alter the performance parameters of your ship in any way. It is purely a cosmetic item.
  • If your ship is destroyed, you will be able to re-apply any of the applicable paint jobs you have bought to your new ship in the star ports.
  • Please be advised that the 'Bloom' setting needs to be enabled in 'Graphics -> Quality -> Bloom' in order to see the full visual effect of this Luminous Paint Job.

The advisory about turning on the Bloom setting is right at the end of the Product Information section, which - in all likelihood - no-one has ever read more than once. I didn't read it, when I bought the first fluorescent. I wasted a bunch of time switching everything on to confirm it would work at all, then working through the individual graphics settings, until I found the one that switched on the effect. Wouldn't it be better to have a brief and slightly more explicit notice right at the top? I suggest something like:

Important: in order to see fluorescent effects in Elite: Dangerous, you need to have the Bloom graphical setting switched on, otherwise the glowing bits will just look white.
You can find the setting in the in-game menus, under Options -> Graphics -> Quality -> Bloom.

Hey QA Mitch, would you mind forwarding this to the dev team: please add a button to the ship cosmetics preview mode, where we can see the ship with the paintjob or kit in space (say a few KM outside the station), so we can see what they look like in space before we buy them.
