Yeah, I'd hoped they would also give the original chrome one.

The reason they changed the color was probably that in space you could not see anything on the chrome as it reflects what is around it: black. The brushed metal at least looks like metal even out in space.



And they actually listened about anouncing them, as they have an ad for the countdown in the startup thingy now.

I had already heard that people who have Chrome did get the Chromed one for free in the past.
Does buying Chromed also give Chrome or is Chrome no longer obtainable at all?

Appears to be no longer obtainable. I've send them a ticket asking for the old version, though I don't hold out much hope.
