That's the biggest reason why I never purchased a different layout.

I already knew what I was getting into when I bought the victory layout.
But yes, I agree this is a major oversight.
I agree it is inconvenient to not have the option to be able to use all four carrier shapes, and considering that every other outfitting or cosmetic option does have the 'remove' or 'default' option, clearly an oversight.

I can confirm if you sell your carrier and buy it again later its back to the original layout.
The docking computer vs landing gear out seems to get worse every patch so thats my current favourite bug. Elite only produces the same amount as a skeleton crew (regardless of whether the team is bigger) so it probably hurts to expect them to fix anything.

Meanwhile, I'm using a heavy item to lock my left arrow when I'm taking stuff from the FC cargo into the ship, because the guy responsible for it at Fdev is either a sadist, someone with shares in a carpal tunnel syndrome medical equipment company, or never played the game.
I suspect it is the same person who decided you can only pick 10items at a time for PP stuff, when you need 720~ to reach the "PP item" unlock rank.
BTW, I'm really using a heavy item. I use Voice attack when I'm less lazy, or need to do it over and over for a CG.
Also, real talk, what kind of heavy item are you using ? Nail cutter was too light, so I'm using a measuring tape, but it tends to slip and roll. I'm taking all advices.

I have a swiss army knife that I can balance on a key using the end with the little keychain loop on it.
Honestly I'm both surprised and unsurprised that they overlooked such a basic thing to begin with. The fact it's STILL broken is just...wow.
I tried but mine is a real swiss army knife, and it's rather big and heavy. Will likely outlast me though. That thing is sturdy. Anyway, it tend to slip as a way of consequences.
The one I use is 4-wide so it's pretty much square in section, works well on a cheap membrane keyboard.
