Frontier's Stance on Elite logo tattos

Hi there, I am wondering what Frontier's stance is on getting tattos of Elite stuff, ie elite combat rank logo, or the elite explorers logo, or just the ED logo. As far as getting their consent if even needed?

Eh?????

No. Any company who took someone to court for copyright over getting a tattoo would face a backlash of epic proportions.

Kerrash has one, and once I get to Elite, I'll get a little Elite logo inked somewhere on my person.

Although I'm not employed by or an official representative of FD in any way (just a volunteer), I would be confident to say that as long as you don't get something offensive or derogatory, they'd have no issue with it.

Frontier are aware and I'm sure they're not particularly bothered about people inking the logo on their bodies!

At least 2 ambassadors already have the logo, I'm sure there's plenty more!

I've only known one company do this, which was Games Workshop. There statement was 'we cannot allow tattoos as an acceptable use of our IP as a third party necessarily has to perform the "service."' So not as silly a question as it might seem, although hopefully Frontier aren't as hopelessly incompetent as that company :).

I'm aware of the GW stance (I gave up on GW games many years ago when 40K turned into a plastic-dolly cash-grab) - that was some time ago iirc, and nobody has ever been prosecuted. There would be a distinction as I see it over someone requesting a tattoo of a copyrighted logo, compared with a tattoo artist advertising that logo as something they would do, but I doubt you could ever realistically bring a case against a fan who had some of your artwork inked on themselves.

Not a big fan of tattoos I must admit. Our waitress this evening had her eyebrows tattooed on. She looked permanently surprised, and will do for the rest of her life.

As an aside, you have a person, you're most definitively not a person. Here "in" Canada and/or CANADA, a person is "her majesty and an organisation".

If you have a tattoo of a product, brand or company.. you're a walking advertisement which helps them. :p

1980s man gets a tattoo of a wire frame Cobra because he loves Elite. Gets roundly mocked by his mates who tell him "in 25 years, no one will even remember what Elite is".

A tattoo that has meaning is rarely regretted. Some people feel Elite has meaning. All power to them.

*googles tattoo removal service for sixth girlfriend name.

I'd not thought of this.
I may have to cave and get a tattoo when I attain the lofty heights of Triple Elite.
It's something that actually matters to me. Elite has been a profound influence.
All my other 7 tattoos are medical in nature and not visible outside my insides, if you understand.
