Frontline Solutions Combat Mission Travel - SKIP IT!

Please give us the option to skip the time wasting travel from the base to the conflict zone when doing the combat zones from Frontline Solutions. It is unnecessary. Having to sit around and twiddle with your bits while waiting for a vulture to drop you off for 5-10 mins is a complete waste of time and needs to be given the option to skip this if the player wants to do so. I accidentally took a mission that was on a planet over 300,000 ls away and regretted it immediately.

Sheesh! The grind in Oddity is bad enough without making people go through endless hours of this sort of needless unwanted simulation. Put me in the cryovac and wake me when we are there!

Nope. I disagree with both of your retorts. This is something that does not need to happen. It would make the 'game' a lot more enjoyable if you did not have to wait for a vulture to carry you across space or at least give those of us that do not like waiting around the option to skip it. It may not be the view of an Elite 'purist' but it would help players that simply get bored of the wasted time just to complete a few 'scenarios' (Thankyou for correcting me that these are 'scenarios' and not 'missions' (Shakes head at the nerds - sheesh!)).

Teleporting across the space isn't very 'sim', so it's somewhat unlikely to happen. I'd say they should at least try to minimize it, so you don't have to fly back and forth if you want to do the same CZ multiple times. Personally, I just use my own ship.

You can just relog to do the CZ multiple times. Note that if you relogged, you will have to take an Apex shuttle back, as Frontline Solutions forgets about you.

I get the feeling fdev designed it thinking "people don't like us to add fast travel". Or maybe it is so that ppl flying their own ships aren't late to the party?

Personally I don't see why FS couldn't be a "fade to dropship", kinda like going to prison doesn't happen in real time, but it doesn't bother me either way 🤷‍♀️
god, imagine if it did

commit a crime, get busted

then have to sit for an apex-style trip to the detention centre where you're stuck in a cell being berated by some Warden Norton character for being such a reprobate the whole way

Maybe player should be able to choose where to return after winning an on-foot combat zone conflict? E.g. nearest outpost/station

It would be also great if there were representatives of Frontline Solutions in the ground faction owned settlements (which are currently not a combat zone), so that if there is no nearer outpost/station, player can choose another settlement to redeem vouchers and sign for next battle.

There's potentially an exploit where you'd fade-to a distant CZ, then run away and call an Apex to get to another station faster. But with all the intermediate steps you'd need to do it - plus five minutes to move your ship, if you want that at the other station too - I can't see it being meaningfully faster than a Fleet Carrier.

Really, the "should we have fast travel" question was answered - within the bubble, at least - with a resounding "Yes" in 3.7. Now all we're arguing over is whether fast travel should be available (within the bubble) for people without 5 billion in spare cash.

I want to get the kudos for flying to Hutton orbital, I can either fly my ship or book an Apex and do it instantly!

I can't see this being exploitable at all!
That was my first thought (as an outsider with naught but second hand opinions on the Odyssey expansion) as well; if instant-action fast-travel Frontline is a thing, what’s to stop you booking a dropship to a CZ near where you want to be, insta-jumping to the site and then just wandering off and recalling your ship...

If the op wants instant travel, may I suggest nms where you can step into a portal thingy and arrive in another galaxy in the blink of an eye.

Apex should have a patent on an "Apex Canon" that shoots you in a warp/hyperspace/etc. pod towards wherever you might go.

this has a tendency to get itself stuck in planets when it jumps back into real space, so it has a drill on top and like 8 sets of tracks that allow it to dig itself back towards the surface..

I am actually suprised that they did not do that. This would have been consistent with FDev reasoning why they added 3rd person view to the gunnery role in multicrew for it is more fun, and since FS seems to be all about the combat and less about the sim part.
