Frustrating trends?

After spending the last 8..10 in game hours hunting two extremely 'elusive' (or is it bugged? I can never remember..) bounties, I just had the pleasure of a kill being swiped by in-system defense. Happens right? Well.. it really shouldn't. It's not a necessary function of the game. It's not something a player can influence (without becoming a pirate, losing access to damn near everything) and it doesn't appear to offer any challenge to encounters either, simply frustration. Help me out here Frontier, why do I pick your game back up? Why do I even glance at your future work, if you want to include mechanisms that exist solely to create frustration? I've had enough Wargaming, EA-"esque" developer ethics to last me a lifetime. Time to defend yourselves. How are you any different from those immoral publishers?

--It's probably important to mention this stolen bounty was a 15 minute battle against an expert rate Federal Dropship, and it was not impressed by my Vipers dual pulse lasers.. This engagement was probably the most fun I've had in Elite Dangerous since I picked up the Beta.. but for some strange reason, I came out of it incredibly disappointed...

It's their game made the way they want, they have said if you want a game you like, go make your own, like they did, but I doubt they will fund you like you did for them.

Definitely building a legacy all right. Won't be surprised if they are used as examples in the future.

Constructive! I really enjoyed was just how articulate and well thought out the point is.

Its a bit of a slight overreaction, dont you think. Maybe a 10 min cool down before venting on the forums might be better.

This kind of ridiculous hyperbole is exactly what drives developers to not listen to fans and drives big publishers away from anything that's not freemium crapware, Madden, or Call of Duty. You purchased early access which has NO GUARANTEES. If you don't understand that, then in the future don't kickstart or back any early access games... ever. I've done a TON myself, and so far Elite in it's current state has delivered more than almost any other game. The game certainly has issues but "demanding Frontier defend itself" is silly.

The problem with the game right now (one of the problems) is that it doesn't reward you for doing what's fun, it rewards you for doing boring stuff. Then you can go do fun stuff, and the game will punish you for it from time to time.

Those who are thinking of replying with something along the lines of "you make your own fun" or "I find it fun, if you don't perhaps you should go play something else", please don't. It's obvious you enjoy trading so that you can afford doing other activities. Or whatever, it's not really that relevant. The fact that there are some players who find the game frustrating indicates there is some kind of problem. Don't make it the players' problem and tell them to go play something else because ultimately that hurts the game and the game alone.

Turn off report crimes

To OP: Have you tried setting the "report crimes on me" to off? It should help with avoiding system defense forces from coming to your "rescue".

I find something similar. For me the sense of achievement has gone. It is as if I am being forced to play someone else's game while being told it is a big galaxy and I can do what I want.
Shame.
No point in complaining other than to get it off your chest, though.

It's still not in full release. Granted it's close, but if you're not going to complain now, when exactly is the right time? Lol

That is a good question and I don't know the answer.
Actually there are two targets. FD who listen when it suits them but mostly keep aloof and the forum who jump on the slightest thing they don't agree with. (Present company, excepted.) ;)

Well said.

I suspect from reading the forum that different servers have different tweakings (<- is that a word?). Some get lots of interdictions while others get fewer. Some people get good missions and some don't etc.
And before anyone says the magic get-out word "random". I have been working in and with computers long enough to know better than to believe computer "random" is random.

I agree that having your kill stolen by an AI is something that needs removing/fixing as soon as possible.

I do not agree with all the drama though.

Some of you deserve oscars.

Yup as others have said "report crimes against me" is what brings the system authorities to your "rescue". I once had a Cobra at 1% when 2 or 3 police came and stole my kill. Got it on video actually, might upload it for a laugh. :p

That was the last time I used it.
